Keynote Speaker, Dr. Lucille Ford
Dr. Ford holds five academic degrees with a Ph.D. in Economics from Case Western Reserve University. Her academic experience began at the University of Alabama, then Allegheny College and 30 years at Ashland University. Positions at Ashland University include Professor of Economics Chair, Economics Department; Director of the Gill Center for Business and Economics; Dean of Special Programs, Dean College of Business and Economics; Vice President of Academic Affairs; and Provost. Her publications and papers delivered number in the dozens. Her academic honors include Omicron Delta Epsilon, Delta Mu Delta, Alpha Delta Kappa, Phi Theta Kappa, and Mortar Board (Northwestern University). She was Provost and Professor of Economics of Ashland University. She served on the AU Board of Trustees, Investment Committee of the Board, College of Business and Economics Advisory Board, and Chaired the AU Capital Campaign exceeding the 55 million dollar goal by more than 4 million dollars. She has received two Honorary Degrees of Humane Letters. Service on Academic Boards of Trustees includes Ashland University, North Central State College, Stephens College, and Mary Holmes College. Her business experience is extensive with serving on five corporate boards of directors. Several of these companies are Fortune 500 companies. Her business consulting and speaking engagements on business and economic matters include General Motors, Pentair, and National City Bank of Cleveland. Dr. Ford was the first woman to run for the Lieutenant Governor of the State of Ohio. The Governor of Ohio selected her for the Ohio Women’s Hall of Fame in 2001. Her recognition/honors range from Professor of the Year by students to corporate and public recognition as a leader in entrepreneurship. Other honors include Women of Achievement, Spirit of the Chamber of Commerce Award, Ashland High School and Stephens College Distinguished Alumni, Who’s Who of America, World’s Who’s Who of Women, and more. She served on the Governor’s Commission for Educational Choice and the Governor’s Commission for Economic Development for Ohio. Her community involvement includes serving as the President of The Ashland County Community Foundation for 18 years beginning in 1995,National Presbyterian Church Foundation Board, local Red Cross President and many others. She chaired the Salvation Army Campaign for the local Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center. She is married with two daughters (one is a retired, the other a Professor of Theology at the Ashland Theological Seminary) and two grandchildren.
