Time to transform your outdoor space

Last year summer was a bit of a washout, but the new gardening season promises to be much better! Rediscover the quintessentially British pastime of gardening, and brighten up your spring garden with your favourite bedding plants. We offer many colours and types of bedding plant, and have a great selection of cottage garden and hanging basket plants also. With strong offers and expert advice, nows the time to make up for last seasons poor weather. Growing your own fruit, veg and herbs is the most rewarding way to eat healthily, even if you just have a few planters. Children especially love to see the fruits of their labour sprouting up and discovering where their five a day comes from. Its so easy to grab a handful of herbs for the barbecue or to mix in with a salad, even a sprig of mint for your Pimms! At Garsons weve everything you need to get started including seeds, starter plants, compost and advice.

One of the easiest kitchen gardens is a simple salad garden. Lettuce and other greens dont need much space or maintenance and grow quickly, giving you multiple harvests. Plant a cut-and-come-again salad mix, with five to ten salad varieties in a row. Garsons veg strips contain young plants for really easy planting, all you need is a tub or container. As well as lettuce, you cant beat home-grown herbs. We have a great selection with money saving multi-buy deals available; giving you a herb garden from scratch.

Dedicated service
Were delighted to congratulate the members of our team who have recently notched up ten years service. Dan from the Planteria department, Jane from Sundries and Lynne from our Information Desk have received awards for long service. Their commitment has contributed to Garsons success and we appreciate their ten years of a job well done.

Bee friendly
Bees and butterflies are in decline so encourage them into your garden to help pollinate flowers, fruit and vegetables. We source plants from British nurseries that help support bees and butterflies in the garden by providing nectar rich flowers. Look out for the bee friendly logo on the label and do your bit by growing plants such as scabious and lavender. If youre short of space, many plants will happily grow in containers. A broad diversity of plants will encourage pollinating insects and bring other wildlife into the gardens such as birds and hedgehogs.

Lynne Greaves Lynne joined us in October 2002 after a varied career and she can often be found at the Information Desk.

Jane Spencer Prior to joining the Company in October 2002 Jane was a florist for twenty years! She started in houseplants and tills and moved to Sundries in 2008.

Dan joined the Company in May 2002, having previously studied Forestry at Sparsholt College. Dan helps to look after the busy Planteria and is responsible for the Christmas light shop.

Garsons Heritage Weve come a long way since 1871

The Thompson family has been trading since 1871, first as farmers and market gardeners, supplying produce to market by horse and cart. George Henry Thompson was based at Garson Farm in Surrey, which is where our Esher branch is based. His son, Edwin farmed from the age of 14 with his father and brothers. Edwin is pictured with his dog, Jumbo, outside the Bunching Shed which is now the Esher Farm Shop. He was a respected vegetable grower and continued to take an interest in the business after his sons, Eddie and Roy, took over the partnership. Edwins grandson, Derek Richardson, is one of the current directors of Garsons, along with several other family members. Over the years, Garsons has evolved into the award-winning Garden Centre and Farm Shop. Esher is also home to the biggest Pick Your Own farm in the country and has just been judged PYO of the Year. Garsons is still a family-run business and the Titchfield branch director is Clare James, one of the familys sixth generation to run Garsons.

Have a butchers at our brand new Farm Shop Counter

Owtons Butchers and Garsons have joined forces to open a new butchers counter in the Farm Shop. At Garsons we have an ethos of providing local and speciality food in the Farm Shop so its a natural progression to welcome Owtons, who are based locally in Hampshire. The counter has been designed for customer convenience and the master butchers are ready to offer expert knowledge and cooking advice. Owtons has traded locally for over 35 years, farming their own beef and working with local farmers for pork and lamb. They are 2012 regional winners of the British Iconic Sausage and recently scooped five gold awards for their range of home-made sausages. Rob and Jill from Owtons believe their popularity is built on their approach to giving customers great tasting meat from known origins. Both Garsons Farm Shop and Owtons are awardwinners and we both believe in friendly service, value and the best quality for our customers. Its important for customers to know where the meat is from and they can count on us for the best meat that tastes great.
