We’ve made it to the
coastal town of Siha-
noukville. On the 28th,
the Holbeche’s arrived in
Phnom Penh, and we
continued our busy work

We have grown incredibly
close to the children of
New Hope School in the
past 4 months, and even
here, on the coast, they are
close to our hearts.
Many of the children here
in Cambodia do not have
the chance for a truly
meaningful life. Their inno-

Aple (who are on the
frontlines of the child sex

provement Organization
(who provide assistance
and education for women

turbing, but informative.

No Substitute for His Presence (jenny)

I believe that all fruit is a re-
sult of intimacy with God. I
think it's far too easy to read
books, attend church and
conferences, and listen to
sermons, as a substitute for
spending time with God. I
write both to myself and you,
not excluding myself in any-
way from what I believe is an
important message for all of
us.
The best way to know about
someone is to find out what
they are like by talking to
people who know them per-
sonally. Since you received
some information, you would
then know about that person.
We can take this approach
with God. We can find out
about Him by talking to peo-
ple who know Him, and
reading books and listening
to sermons from people who
know Him. We could use
resources to know about
God. But doesn't our heart
ache for so much more?
Didn't Jesus die so that God
could know us beyond the
level of acquaintance, and
on a level that is an intimate,
passionate relationship with
Him? God wants us to know
Him. We were designed for
intimacy with the father.
Should we stop listening to
sermons and reading books
from incredible people of
God? Of course not. We
should do this all the more,
since there is so much to
learn and so much imparta-
tion to receive. But these
things should never be mis-
taken as a source for know-
ing God. There is no substi-
tute for sitting at the feet of
Jesus and receiving His im-
partation.
His divine power has granted
to us everything pertaining to
life and godliness, through
the true knowledge of Him
who called us by His own
glory and excellence.
