American Red Cross: Midway-Kansas Chapter
http://midwaykansas.redcross.org/index.php 1900 East Douglas, Wichita, KS 67214 / 316-219-4000 Emergency Financial Assistance: Person’s experiencing an unexpected, verifiable financial situation that leaves them unable to pay rent, mortgage and/or utilities are eligible to apply. Call 316-219-4070 and leave your name and phone number. A Red Cross caseworker returns client calls and screens over the phone to see if they meet guidelines. Community Aid Network (C.A.N.)
@The Salvation Army in El Dorado 207 W. First / 316-321-4070 (ext.1) Coordinates assistance from community churches for those in need in the El Dorado area. Many churches ask people seeking assistance to start by going to C.A.N. for screening Hours: Monday - Friday, 10 am - noon & 1:30 - to 2:30 pm (walk-ins welcome). Rental assistance no more than once every 6 - 12 months. Bring proof of rental amount (lease agreement) and landlord’s contact information. No assistance provided for rent deposits (many landlords will let tenant pay deposit over several months).

Mid-Kansas Community Action Program
Augusta: 730 Cliff Drive / 316-775-3000 / 1-800-281-6373 Hours: Monday – Friday, 8am – 4:30 pm El Dorado: 400 W. Central / 316-775-3000 / 1-800-281-6373 Hours: Tuesdays, 8am – 5 pm Must call to schedule an appointment. Counties served: Butler, Cowley, Greenwood, Harper, Harvey, Kingman, Marion, Pawnee, Reno, and Sumner Counties A non-profit that helps people get back on their feet and become self-sufficient. Housing programs include assistance with family rentals, transitional housing, and homeless prevention. Helps unemployed, working poor and low income residents with employment searches, housing, transportation, child care services, etc.

Assistance provided includes rental assistance only when funds are available: call in advance to inquire about availability. Bring photo ID, Social Security card, proof of address, proof of income, if any.
