Complete revamp of limestone quarry

We are very happy with the modernized quarry. Now we are much more productive and can serve our customers with a better and wider selection of end products, says a satised Jos Andreo, manager of the Santacruz limestone quarry. The quarry was revamped recently with Metso Minerals equipment assisted by Holcims technical department under manager Jos Miguel Angueras supervision. The quarry, owned by Holcim ridos, S.L., lies between the cities of Murcia and Cartagena in southern Spain. Deciding in 2001 that they needed to upgrade, the company turned to Metso Minerals. The result was new jaw and impact crushers and new screens as well. Since the quarrys rock is limestone impact crushers proved the optimal solution in the secondary and tertiary stages. The quarrys products are marketed to construction and civil engineering companies working along the Mediterranean coastline. Higher production with new equipment The equipment upgrade includes a large assembly of Nordberg machinery: A C140 jaw crusher for the primary stage, an NP1520 impact crusher for the secondary stage, and a VI400 >

> vertical shaft impact crusher for the tertiary stage. The quarrys production capacity is now 400 tonnes per hour in a nine-hour shift with a workforce of six people. The end products include 0-3 mm, 0-5 mm, 3-8 mm, 8-12 mm, 12-15 mm, 25-40 mm, 40-70 mm and 0-40 mm aggregates.

To ensure the accuracy of our end products and their wide selection, we also purchased a number of Nordberg screens. After the primary stage, the crushed material is screened by a Nordberg CVB2060 3-deck primary screen with a screening area of 12 m2. We also have another two Nordberg CVB2060 2-deck screens and two 3-deck Nordberg Ellivar 13 screens, Mr Andreo describes. s

New crusher factory in China

Lion dancing and ribbon cutting were some of the most visible highlights when Metso Minerals opened a new crushing equipment manufacturing plant in Tianjin, on the east coast of China, on November 13, 2002. The factory specializes in small cone crushers and small portable crushing units. Metso Minerals was the rst foreign company to establish a crusher manufacturing plant in China in 1998. This rst plant is just a few blocks from the new factory, which is four times larger and has three times more manufacturing capacity. The new plant is expected to employ 50 people, most of them Chinese, by the end of 2003. The opening ceremony marked another milestone in Metso Corporations many recent investments in minerals processing, the paper industry and other process industries in China. The special guest of honour was Mr Benjamin Bassin, the Finnish Ambassador to China. s

Crushers for Chinese dam project

Metso Minerals has recently won a large order for crushing equipment in China: two LT140E primary crushing plants and two LL12 mobile conveyor systems, plus four NP1520 and two NP1315 impact crushers for the other crushing stages. The customer, Longtan Hydropower Development Ltd Co., will use the equipment to produce aggregates at a rate of 2000 t/h for the Hunghshui river hydropower dam project in Guangxi province, southwest China. The 192-m high and 750-m long dam will need roughly 7 million m3 of concrete. s

Cost-saving plant design

A key priority for Metso Minerals is to provide its customers with equipment that operates both reliably and with the lowest possible operating costs. A good example of this principle at work is the aggregates processing line of

The eyes of the world turn to Paris

s Intermat, the equipment exhibition

Nordberg ST351 featuring SmartScreen technology

traditionally held in Paris, is the single most important industry event this year for all who are interested in earthmoving, construction and civil engineering machines. The exhibition will take place in the Paris-Nord Exhibition Centre between 13 and 17 May 2003. Metso Minerals will be there of course with a strong presence and a series of new products to launch. One of the highlights is the Nordberg ST351 mobile screening plant featuring the latest SmartScreenTM technology. Metso Minerals will have two large stands, outside between halls 4 and 5 and indoors in hall 4. Outdoors, Metso Minerals will display several new products from its mobile crushing and screening units, while the indoor stand will include new products as well as a display on operation and maintenance services. Altogether, the companys Nordberg and Dynapac product ranges will cover almost 2,500 m2. Welcome to visit us at Intermat and enjoy Paris in the spring while youre there!

s Metso Minerals launches a new mobile screen, the Nordberg ST351 with revolutionary SmartScreen technology, at Intermat 2003 in Paris. SmartScreen refers to an intelligent controller in the Nordberg ST351 that monitors and adjusts the screen automatically to achieve optimum screening results. The controller maintains maximum screening efciency by controlling the feed rate The new Nordberg ST348 is the rst mobile screen in the market and screen performance. combining the highly advanced SmartScreenTM intelligent It also controls start-up controlling technology and new, modular design. Inclined screens with add-on exibility

s Nordberg IS series screens are a new range of inclined screens from Metso Minerals that benets from the latest advances in engineering design. Based on independent cross-beam and MV vibrators, the screens offer the end user an enormous range of possibilities. Metallic polyurethane or rubber meshes can be tted on the same unit without changing the screen deck arrangement. This screen can also be converted from a dry to wet application without any changes in the frame. All options come as addons, making this screen a highly economical solution. The IS Series screens are built in imperial dimensions for the US market.

SKB Sand- und Kiesbaggerei GmbH in Niederkassel, Germany. The primary screen usually installed to separate 0-2 mm sand from the gravel granulations was not needed in this installation. Instead, all fractions are produced entirely on a wet 3-deck screen, followed by a bucket wheel for dewatering the sand. The plant, which operates at 200 t/h, consists of only three machines and the belt conveyors required. s

IS Series screens are available in 14 models from 1500 x 4800 mm (5 x 16 ft) to 2400 x 6000 mm (8 x 20 ft).
