An Online/ Offline Digital Library for Everyone

Abstract. Those people living in rural areas and interested about learning,
research, development – they don’t have any large traditional library which contains large collections of books, resources. Whereas, Digital library contains millions digital format books, resources with small devices, minimum cost and less physical space and distance doesn’t matter. Such, Traditional library to online/ offline digital library will change the experiences; it would be cost effective and environment friendly. With the usages of small Tablet PCs, there has few initiatives taken to educate the worlds with “I-Slate Technology” & “Kindle Reader” – that motivated to use the same technology and for different purpose to resolve the national needs & reach to everywhere. Keywords: Digital Library, Online/ Offline Library, Cheap Devices, Digital Books.



According to, Dr. A.M.R. Chowdhury, deputy executive director of BRAC, Bangladesh’s leading institution for non-formal education: “Education is the backbone of sustainable development. Education stimulates and empowers people to participate in their own development” [1]. In Bangladesh, the literacy rate is, less than 39% and government is more focused for the primary education, whereas millions of students thirsty about their education, when they have done primary education. With the possible sustainable development solution, like digital library can bring more learner in the same place once again. The crucial role not to educate them but to expand the light of education everywhere, even where the electricity not available. The Capital, Dhaka city a place where the literacy level is higher, living standards is much better, education system is much oriented in compare of rural areas. Also, Dhaka has full featured with Educational Institution (Private and Public) and Public Libraries for people, where everyone allowed to access to knowledge. In the entire country, not possible to deploy or establish such large library and those people living in rural or distance area, they are not getting that much facility to enrich their level of knowledge’s from that perspective. There is a large possibility to increase the literacy level of education in our country and most interesting part is, with less effort, less investment and proper initiatives can success the process and possible to get sustainable solution and transform the
