DISINFECTION & STERILISATION OF I.C.U.

EQUIPMENTS
DRAGGER VENTILATOR
Unplug the machine before cleaning Use surface disinfectants For material compatibility, use disinfectants based on aldehydes/ alcohol/ quaternary ammonium compounds only. Material damage may occur if phenol based, halogen releasing, strong organic acids, oxygen-releasing compounds are used. • Basic Machine Wiping with disinfectant For basic machine without Hose system, Aquapor without bowl & float, gas connecting hoses and temperature sensor. Disconnected parts For ventilation hoses, watertraps, Aquapor with bowl & float, connector with Y piece, Nebuliser & their parts – Disinfect with moist heat at 930 C for 10 min in cleaning & disinfecting machine After disinfection, sterilize patient system and individual part at 1340 C Remove all water from the system If disinfecting machine not available – Disinfect with Sekuceft Rinse with clean soft water Remove all water & dry all parts well After rinsing, steam sterilize patient system and individual parts at 1340 C OR Rinse with clean water and dry Then steam sterilize at 1340 C

BEAR CUB VENTILATOR
Unplug the machine before cleaning • Ventilator Graphics Monitor (VGM) Front panel, Display shield and accessories may be wiped clean with water or isopropyl alcohol DO NOT USE – Phenols, Ammonium chloride, Quaternary compounds, Acrylate reactive solutions Exterior of the Ventilator

Clean with an appropriate bactericidal/ germicidal agent like Isopropyl alcohol • Ventilator tubings (except Bacterial filter) Clean with a warm detergent solution Then rinse with warm water Sterilize by autoclaving Flow Sensor Soak in enzymatic cleaner (Klenzyme/ Cidazyme) for 10 minutes. Periodic up & down agitation may assist in removal of protein particles from the device Remove & then rinse with distilled water Dry the device with a soft cloth Flow sensor may be sterilized using Ethylene oxide sterilization process. Water traps Clean with a warm detergent solution & then rinse thoroughly with warm water. Connectors, Adapters, Corrugated tubes May be sterilized by Autoclaving

CRITICARE MULTICHANNEL MONITOR
Turn off and unplug the Monitor • • Exterior surface (except Display screen) Wipe clean with Isopropyl alcohol Display Screen Wipe with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth sprayed with a common glass cleaner Do not spray glass cleaner directly on the screen SpO2 Sensor Wipe clean with alcohol Disinfect by placing the paddles & cable (not connector) in 2% glutaraldehyde solution B.P.Cuffs Clean by wiping it with a damp cloth or sponge Disinfect by wiping with 70% alcohol or a mild bleach solution Cloth cuff can be sterilized by Ethylene oxide or by Autoclaving

OXYPLETH PULSE OXIMETER
Turn off and unplug the Monitor • Monitor Can be cleaned or disinfected with solutions like 70% Isopropyl alcohol, 2% Glutaraldehyde or 10% bleach Do not IMMERSE or STERILISE the monitor SpO2 Sensor Clean and disinfect with same solutions Wipe with a water dampened clean cloth Dry well before use

EMCO PULSE OXIMETER
Turn off and unplug the Monitor • Monitor Wipe the surface of monitor with Isopropyl alcohol/ Glutaraldehyde solution Then wipe with soft water moistened cloth SpO2 Sensor Clean and disinfect with same solutions Wipe with a water dampened clean cloth Dry well before use

INFUSION PUMP
Disconnect cable, Clean with a soft cloth with disinfectant like Ethyl alcohol or 3% Hydrogen peroxide, Allow to dry for 1 min. DO NOT OVERTURN the pump as the solution can enter inside the machine DO NOT AUTOCLAVE
