Total quality management is the process, in which all the activities are integrated, the function and process

of an organization are continuous improvement in cost, quality, performance and functions all these thing should be satisfied customer. TQM is using in many organization in the world; firstly quality concept was used by manufacturing company after that it spending into services organization like banking sector, government, educational, healthcare and profitable organization. Every country in the world is planning about providing quality to their human and also they are thinking about their economics. The people are belonging from different background their thinking beliefs are different, so it means higher education is a diverse thing which is providing to diverse people. Barmet (1992) has defined basically four principal in higher education.  Higher education is providing qualified human resources to our countries according to them student are considered as a product absorbed in the labour market. Higher education has become the development of the business and industries and also input to the growth. Higher education is providing training to the researcher through this help they done research and become a good scientist. Higher education is very efficient in term of management of teaching provision. There is a strongly belief of the people teaching is base of education institutions. In this way higher education is improving the quality of teaching. Through the higher education people have chances to extend their life. So it has become the opportunity which is participating for the development of individual people.

 

The quality in higher education means the ability of a product or services which deliver its function to their customer. Quality always not applies only on the product or services it also applies on the processes organizational environment and peoples. For instance if we want to judge the quality of the institution we will not only judge the quality facility, how many course offered of that institution we will also check efficiency and accuracy of the management. Quality means the performance, durability and consistency of the product and services. According to Juran (1989) the quality as per fitness for purpose according to him a product which meets their specification not fit with their purpose. It may be fault in customer specification and it should be must according to the customer’s needs and wants. According to the British Standard Institution (BSI) (1991) they define the quality, the characteristic and features of the product or services that bear on to fulfill required needs. Quality is the features, attribute and also benefit of the product that you can seen when there is not watching it. According to (Stoner et al., 2008) it should be must recognize the definition of quality and any education is a part of system. The quality of higher education is totally depending upon the quality of the teaching staff and students.

If there is some ambiguity to identify the customer it will create hurdle for implementation total quality in higher education. The third approach represents the agreement where it gets conformity to specification and check by key measureable points of the education process. The return of social education is twenty five percent but the return of higher education is only one percent. if an organization which adopts continuous quality improvement can get a lot of benefit through it. there are basically three main approaches used to TQM in higher education.Collough (2001) propose a system of guarantees designed to accommodate for the students and changing role student in the educational process. By using TQM philosophy higher educations institutes can continuous improve by incorporating knowledge and expertise of students. The organizations get completive advantage through quality of their education. A good implementation of TQM in higher education it will must require sufficient and proper time because the competition is reached at huge level among students. If we adopt TQM philosophy in higher education so then we can improve overall processes. Students are the main customer of higher education. firing the employees. The organization that identifies their customer are making quality product according to their segmentation. .
