An outstanding development in outdoor substation lighting units is the Holophane one piece refractor with prismatic lens top. The light directing refractor and the light controlling top lens are made of thermally stable rxrunar,i4 glass.

collar. The collar engages threads in a cast aluminum fitter rvhich supports a mogul base lamp socket, and slip fits over 1%" diameter pipe to a depth of 21tr". Stainless steel set screws are used (A) to secure the fitter on mounting bracket or post top and (B) to prevent rotation of outer collar on inner fitter after lateral light beam adjustment has been set for angles of 100' to 110'. The top lens, 10%" in diameter, is held in a cast metal collar which has 2 stainless steel spring tension latches opposite one another. These latches are hand operated to clamp the lens top to the refractor assembly on a gasket with a bearing surface of %"; this keeps the interior of the fixture dirt and weather tight. The lens top is removed for lamp replacements. Comparisons, on an equal
