Nathan Herrman C&T 100: MW Career Path 2: Education After much thought about the matter, I will transfer

to Kansas State University in the fall of 2013. Since I have received a scholarship from K-State I will have to keep my GPA above a 3.5 to receive the second installment. I will need to make sure to enroll in the correct teacher education classes in the fall after discussion with the K-State licensure officer. This will have to happen during enrollment the 23rd of April. I will also have to decide between teaching Spanish or history, as I have been advised to do Spanish. KSU only licensed two Spanish teachers last year and are in need of more. This would probably work best with my ambition to work with ESL students and eventually help create the policy that shapes our modern day classroom. Upon transfer to K-State there will still be a few steps I have to finish before admission to the College of Education. There I will not apply until the end of my Sophomore year, and in order to do so I will have to finish their required pre admission classes. This includes taking the PPST and receiving a passing score, taking public speaking, orientation to education at KSU and completion of statistics, all with a 2.5 GPA. I believe this will be easily attainable as I made the Honor Roll last semester. I will also be taking both a Spanish and history class in this time, to better determine my future, which at this moment is leaning towards Spanish Education. When all of this is finished I will apply in the Spring of 2014. When I am admitted to the College of Education at K-State in 2014 I hope to receive a number of larger scholarships available to students to add to my current scholarship. With this I also hope to become one of the leaders of K-States Transfer Ambassador Program in order to help students just like myself. I will continue to find new ways to both become involved and become a leader within the University and College. I hope during my time in the College of Education I can become one of its student leaders, a good example for all others. I don't want to just graduate, I want to leave a legacy, to make a difference, just as I hope to do in the field itself. This is about more than a job to me, it's about making a contribution that can be felt long after I am gone. In 2016 I will graduate from the College of Education at Kansas State University after completing 126 hours. I hope to continue my trend of good academics and a good GPA and graduate with honors, possibly even pushing myself to graduate top of the class. While none of this matters if you cannot teach I will continue to hone my teaching skills to not only help me, but my future students. After graduation I will look for a job, including alternative employment (education) options. After looking for a position that best suits me I will finally decide to take a job. By the Fall of 2016 I hope to be teaching in a low income school district. Here I will truly be able to help make the difference in young people's life's. I will also take advantage of both the Low Income School Credit that will go towards paying off up to nearly 18,000 dollars of my students loans and the Income Based Repayment method given towards Government employees to begin

Nathan Herrman C&T 100: MW to get rid of them. After teaching In a low income school district for a few years I will apply to a graduate program. In the Fall of 2019 I hope to be accepted to a Master's Program. After my work with low income students, and my leadership in both the classroom and field I feel that I can bring worth to the Master's programs I apply to. During this time I will work on receiving a 15 credit hour ESL license as well as my Master's in Administration. This will help me to become a more well rounded educator and administrator to better and more effectively serve my students. After completion of the Master's Program I hope to become a school administrator in 2024. I will probably start as an assistant principal at a smaller school district, but I hope to work my way up the ladder. By 2026 I hope to be a full principal at a large school, where I will help to create an environment that in conducive the best learning environment for ALL students. This may be hard, but I will not give up until my school makes sure every student receives not a good education, but a great one. After being an administrator for four years, in 2030 I will look towards taking the next step in my career. I will still be considered relatively inexperienced by many school districts, probably the biggest and most recognizable ones. However, I will set my sights on starting the next phase of my career in an environment such as where I started. A district that needs the help. In 2030 I will become the Superintendent of a school district that is in the need of help. I hope to turn it around, just like I will have done at the school I was Principal of. I want every student in my district to have an equal shot at education, and equal shot to have the great education I had. This will be a long process, no doubt, but in my opinion this will be the last full measure of my contribution to education. I will continue as the Superintendant until the job there is done. In 2040 I will most likely take another Superintendent job somewhere where my family and I can settle down. I will continue there until my retirement around the age of 60 (hopefully). I may even possibly step down and just teach. Do what I love until I retire, and create those more personal relationships with students once again.

The one thing I am confident of is that no matter what the final stages of my career will look like, I will have done something to make a difference. This is a long way out to project, who knows where my career will take me, but if I can make the difference in just one students life.I will have done my job, and I will have succeeded no matter what the rest of career looks like.
