(TE 252) What are two important things that heroes might be? (TE 252) Who was Sitting Bull? (TE 252)What was Sitting Bull against? (After reading pg. 254) Where did Golda Meir live before she came to the United States? (TE 254) What nation did Golda Meir and others begin? (TE 254) What was one thing Golda Meir did to start Israel? (After reading pg. 255) What happened to Jackie Robinson in 1947? (TE 255) How did some people feel about African American players playing with white players? (TE 255) What happened because of the great example Jackie Robinson set? (After reading pg. 256) What were two of Thomas Edisons inventions? (TE 256) What might Thomas Edison be doing in the picture?

5. Have students complete Study Guide/Homework (Unit Resources pg. 76) 6. Closure: the two statements in the Review/Assess section TE 257 F. Assessment: What will you use to measure student understanding? To measure students understanding I will have them complete activity pg. 256. Students will write a paragraph on hero describing the qualities that made the person a hero rather than their appearance. Explain how you will know students understand the concepts from the lesson. Students must Examine artifacts from around the world for important clues as to how people lived their daily lives. Students will be able to relate the inventions to how people live their daily lives then and now. G. Reflection: 1. Which part of the lesson do you think will be the easiest for you to teach? I think the easiest part for me to teach is the questions, since they are sectioned after the required reading. 2. Which part will be most challenging for you to teach? I think the most challenging part to teach was deciding on the assessment, therefore I chose for them to write a paragraph on a hero describing the qualities that made the person a hero, rather than their appearance. As, I feel this will give me an insight on what they are thinking and learning. 3. How will you follow up or extend this lesson?

For extension of this lesson, I would use Extend Lesson 5 (pg. 258,259). Learn From a Letter. Students will examine a thank-you letter from Jackie Robinson. What will you do for students who dont grasp the concepts? For the students who dont understand the concepts in this lesson, I would use the Reteach Minilesson described at the bottom of TE 257. I would work in small groups to complete the Venn diagram with differences and similarities between Thomas Edison and Albert Einstein. 4. Which part of the lesson, if any, do you think might need to change? I like the way the lesson is planned out, I dont think I would change anything other than bring in more artifacts so students can relate, for example and old later from someone or a diary so students can relate to the extension of this lesson. 5. When you were writing this lesson plan, what was the most difficult part? I think the most challenging part for all lesson plans is deciding what the assessment should be, and how it should be because they play a crucial role in measuring our students. For the assessment on this activity I decided to have students write a paragraph describing the qualities of becoming a hero rather than their appearance.
