INT. FARM - NIGHT The film opens with a girl as she dashes across a field. She runs up to a farmhouse, and dashes into the building. She slams the door behind her, and takes a brief respite. She slides down, leaning against the door behind her. However, the back door suddenly slams open, revealing the silhouette of the Gardener. The girl screams, and runs out of the house itself. She darts left, and heads to a small shed near a garden. The shed looks abandoned and rotten, but the girl still runs inside, closing the door behind her. She hears the sound of the Gardener’s footsteps as he walks by, and pants quickly out of fear. She closes her eyes, and mumbles a prayer to herself. Suddenly, the doors open, and the Gardener is seen in full. The girl screams out in vain as he reaches for her. The screen cuts to black, but the girl’s screams can still be heard for seconds afterward. Dramatic music is then heard, and the opening titles for the film are shown.
INT. JAMIE AND LEE’S DORM ROOM - DAY The scene cuts to the girls’ dorm room. CURTIS is inside the room, smoking pot with LEE. They kiss, and she takes the blunt from him to take a hit. Suddenly they hear footsteps coming up to the stairs. Lee tries to hide the blunt, but Curtis just takes it from her and smokes it. LEE (whispering) What the hell are you doing?! CURTIS What do ya mean? I’m getting high. LEE (whispering) We’re gonna get caught! CURTIS So? The door opens, revealing JAMIE as she walks into the room. JAMIE Oh! Sorry, I didn’t mean to... CURTIS (mockingly) No, please. Sit down, have a blunt, get high. Live a little. LEE Curtis! CURTIS What?! I’m joking. Kinda. LEE (to Jamie) Don’t mind him. He’s just being an ass. JAMIE (solemnly) It’s fine. LEE (quietly) Hey, are you alright? Jamie sighs.
JAMIE Henry and I broke up. LEE What?! Why? JAMIE I don’t want to talk about it. LEE Oh, come on. You can tell me. Jamie sighs again, only this time more irritated. JAMIE Ugh, fine. I wouldn’t sleep with him. Curtis suddenly coughs, but he mutters the word "prude." Both Lee and Jamie turn to face him, Lee with more hostility and Jamie with more confusion. CURTIS (While holding up his blunt) What? LEE (Returning to Jamie) Hey, if it makes you feel any better. Curtis and I are going out to his cousin’s place for the weekend. You wanna come? CURTIS Wait, what? You’ve got to be kidding me. There is no way in hell that she -(would want to) JAMIE (interrupting) I’d love to come. Both Lee and Curtis are shocked. They look at each other, and then back to Jamie. LEE Um... ok then. We’re leaving in like an hour or so. Just get some stuff together and we’ll all get in Curtis’ van to go. Speaking of which...
CURTIS Um, you said we don’t have to leave for an hour. LEE Yeah, I also said that we needed to pack. You really wanna stay around for that? CURTIS Nope, have fun! Curtis leaves the girls’ dorm room.
INT. CURTIS AND BRETT’S DORM ROOM - DAY The camera follows Curtis as he walks out of the building, and down to his own dorm room. He goes into the building, and walks up to his dorm room. Upon his arrival, Curtis looks down at the door knob. There is a sock covering it. Curtis sighs and rolls his eyes. He takes in a deep breath, knock three times quickly, and rushes into his dorm room. CURTIS (mockingly) Honey, I’m home! After storming into his room, Curtis looks around, only to find TIFFANY on top of BRETT. Brett is not wearing his shirt, and Tiffany rushes to pull her top back down. BRETT Jesus bro! Didn’t you see the sock?! CURTIS Yeah, I saw it. BRETT Then why the hell didn’t you knock?! CURTIS I did. TIFFANY Know what? I’m just gonna go. BRETT What? Hey, baby, come on. TIFFANY I’m just going to get my stuff. I’ll be back in a little bit. Tiffany kisses Brett, then leaves. While she does this, Curtis gets out his weed, and begins to smoke it again. Brett goes for his football, and spins it around as the two talk. BRETT Bro, what the fuck. CURTIS What?
BRETT You totally just came in on me and Tiffany. CURTIS Oh, really? huh, never knew. BRETT Didn’t you see the sock?! CURTIS (sarcastically) Oh, so that’s what the sock’s for BRETT Bro, why don’t you like her? I mean, how can’t you like her? CURTIS Dude, she’s a total whore. BRETT Bullshit man. You’re just jealous. CURTIS (sarcastically) You’re having sex with Tiffany Miller, the biggest whore in the school’s history. Yeah, I’m totally jealous. Brett chuckles, as if he has just won the argument. BRETT Yeah you are. Tiffany returns, this time with several suitcases and bags. TIFFANY I’m back! BRETT Hey baby. CURTIS Yo, um... Tiffany... TIFFANY Yep. CURTIS (gesturing to Tiffany’S luggage) (MORE) (CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: CURTIS (cont’d) What’s all this? TIFFANY Oh, this? Well, this bag is for my shoes. This one’s for my jackets. This one’s for my jeans. This one’s -(for) CURTIS (interrupting) Alright, ok. We get it. There’s just one problem. TIFFANY What? CURTIS We don’t have room anymore. BRETT What do ya mean? CURTIS We’re bringing Lee’s room mate along. You remember her? BRETT Is she hot? CURTIS She just broke up with her boyfriend because she doesn’t put out. BRETT (calling out/disgusted) Prude! CURTIS I know! TIFFANY Wait. So then, what am I supposed to do with my stuff? Curtis raises his arms. CURTIS I don’t know. Maybe leave some of it behind?
Tiffany opens her mouth, shocked. She tries to speak, but cannot create anything that makes sense. (CONTINUED)
BRETT Bro, that is not going to work out. CURTIS Why not? Brett pulls Curtis over to the side. BRETT (whispering) Dude. Me an Tiff are trying to get in some action on the way to your place. CURTIS Ok, so? BRETT So we can’t do that with some prude bitch in the car now can we? CURTIS (sarcastically) Oh, yeah. Good point. Cuz Lee and I are totally cool with you fucking in my back seat. BRETT Really? Oh, sweet. Thanks man. Brett pats Curtis on the back, and returns to let Tiffany into the conversation. Curtis just shakes his head. CURTIS Don’t mention it. So, Tiffany. Brett and I think it’s best if you all take Brett’s car, and I’ll drive the rest of us. Ok? TIFFANY But what if we get lost? CURTIS Don’t worry, I’ll give you directions. TIFFANY But I don’t wanna go in another car! Tiffany stomps on the ground like a child, and begins to pout.
BRETT Woah, baby, it’s ok. We’ll just get Curtis to take his own car and we’ll go with the pack. CURTIS I am taking my own car. BRETT (realizing his mistake) Oh... oh! I’ve got it. You just get that prude bitch to take hers. CURTIS ...That could work. TIFFANY Yeah! The only reason she’s coming is because she’s roomates with your girlfriend! CURTIS Wait, how were you invited again? BRETT What? CURTIS Nothing. I’ll call Lee and see if it’s ok for Jamie to take her car. Curtis takes out his cell phone and dials in Lee’s number.
10. 4 INT. JAMIE AND LEE’S DORM ROOM - DAY The scene immediately cuts to Lee as she answers Curtis’ phone call. LEE (answering) Whatsup. Lee’s conversation fades into obscurity as the camera shifts focus to Jamie. She is packing her things, and has a single bag for the weekend. Before she can finish packing, there is a knock at the door. Jamie looks over at Lee, who is now in a heated argument with Curtis, and puts down the last of her belongings in order to answer the door. She opens it only to find JASON standing in the doorframe. Jason is slightly crippled, and has crutches to support himself. JAMIE (surprised) Jason! JASON I heard what happened with you and Henry, and I just wanted to say I’m sorry. Not all guys are like that. JAMIE (sincerely) Aw, thanks Jason, that’s so sweet. JASON Don’t mention it. Look, if you need anything, and I mean anything, just ask. I’ll always be here. LEE (interrupting) Hey, Jamie. We’re leaving in like five minutes. JAMIE (to Jason) Just give me a sec. Jamie closes the door, and looks over at Lee. Lee puts her hand over the phone, looks at Jamie, and motions Jamie to walk over to her. Jamie does so, and Lee huddles over with her to keep quiet LEE (Whispering) Why the hell is he here?
JAMIE Well, he must have heard of the breakup, so he came here to be a good friend. LEE Friend? Jamie, are you kidding me? Jason is your friend? JAMIE Yeah. Is that not ok? LEE Not ok? Jamie, he’s a freak! JAMIE Well, that’s too bad. Because i’m going to invite him to Curtis’ farm. LEE What?! JAMIE Yeah. I mean, you’re going to be with Curtis the whole time, why can’t I have a friend with me? LEE Because he’s a freakshow! There’s no way in hell tha...Fine, you know what, why don’t we ask Curtis? Lee returns to her phone. JAMIE Fine. Jamie turns around to go back to Jason. However, before she reaches the door, Lee raises her voice. LEE (loudly) You’re what?! No, that’s not ok!... Ugh, fine, but they go by themselves. Lee hangs up the phone. LEE (to Jamie) Fine. He can come. But he’s your problem, not mine. (CONTINUED)
Jamie gives a polite smile, and opens the door. Jason is still standing there, eagerly awaiting. JAMIE Hey Jason. So me and a few friends are going out to a farmhouse for the weekend. Wanna come? Jason opens his eyes wide, shocked. JASON Wha...What? JAMIE Oh, sorry. You don’t have to come if you don’t want to. JASON What?! No! I’d love to come, just let me get some things from my room. JAMIE (happily) Well, alright then. I’ll be here when you come back. JASON Alright! I’ll be back before you know it! Jason tries to walk quickly, but his crutches prove to be difficult for him to move around in. Jamie looks over to Lee, who just shakes her head. She then walks out of the door. LEE Curtis and I will be waiting outside with the car. Don’t be late. JAMIE (in retort) Don’t worry about me. We’re not seven anymore. Lee smiles, and continues out of the hallway. Jamie turns around, grabs her keys and baggage, and goes to her car.
EXT. SCHOOL - DAY Jamie starts the car, drives out of the lot, and pulls around to where Curtis and Lee are. Curtis’ car is a suburban which has seen better days. On top of the vehicle is all of Tiffany’S luggage, which has been tied down to the top of the car. Jamie pulls over next to them. Lee is at the passenger door, and signals Jamie to roll down her window. LEE We’re leaving now. Where’s Jason? Jamie looks around, and notices Jason wobbling over towards her. JAMIE (pointing over toward Jason) Right over there. LEE Ok. Curtis, we’re all here. CURTIS (off screen) Great. Let’s get the hell outa here! Jason finally arrives at Jamie’s car. He tries to open the door, but it’s locked. JAMIE Oh, sorry. Jamie unlocks the door. Jason tries to open the unlocked door, but has trouble getting it with his crutches. Jamie looks over at Lee, who gives her an irritated look. Jamie gives a fearful smile, and Jason finally opens the door. He tosses his stuff in awkwardly, and goes to the passenger door. Jamie reaches over to open the door. JASON Oh, thank you. Jason gets in the car, puts his crutches down, and puts his seat belt on. LEE (to herself) Wait. He can do that just fine, but he can’t open the freaking door? Jamie looks over, and glares at Lee.
LEE Ok, we’re ready to roll. TIFFANY (screaming) YAY! Lee cringes. She then looks over at Curtis, who has just done the same. They both sigh, and the two cars leave the school.
INT. CARS - DAY The scene cuts to the cars as they travel down the highway, then onto less trafficked roads. The camera then cuts to inside of the front car, and shows Curtis on the phone giving directions to Jamie. CURTIS ...Then we’re just gonna turn into the gateway and you’ll be there. got it?...Ok, great. Talk to ya when we get there. Curtis hangs up the phone. LEE So we’re all set? CURTIS Yep. If we get separated, Jamie’ll know how to get to Jesse’s. LEE (playfully) Great. Now maybe we can pull over and get a little something going. CURTIS Oh yeah. Suddenly, Brett’s shirt is thrown up front and at Lee. LEE What the fuck! Brett pops up from the back seat, shirtless. BRETT Oh, my b. Tiffany pops up next to Brett. TIFFANY Hey, get back here. Tiffany pulls Brett back out of view. Both Lee and Curtis have the same look of shock on their faces. CURTIS Wait... You two aren’t...
BRETT Bro, you said you two were fine with it. CURTIS I didn’t think that you guys would -(just start) LEE (screaming) Stop the fucking car! The camera cuts to Jamie and Jason, who are right behind Curtis’ car. They see Curtis pull off to the side of the road, and Jason looks in the rear view mirror. He sees Lee storm out of the car, and Curtis come running after her. Jason turns around again, while Jamie drives. There is an awkward silence between the two which lasts for a few seconds. JASON umm...So...wanna turn on the radio. JAMIE Sure, but I don’t really think that it works out here. JASON Oh...then...um... JAMIE (disregarding Jason) I think we turn over here, then go straight for a few miles. JASON Do you know where we’re going? JAMIE More or less. JASON So we have no clue where we are. JAMIE Nope. JASON Ok then. Great... JAMIE Sorry.
JASON Hey, it’s not your fault. Curtis just had to be an ass and go get high. JAMIE Well, in his defense, it was really nice of him to let us come and stay at his farm. JASON Please, I’ll bet you that he’s just going to check up on his plants. JAMIE Well, I’m sure he has his reasons to smoke. JASON Please. He’s just going to -(smoke his) JAMIE (interrupting) Let’s pull over and get some directions. JASON Where? We’re in the middle of nowhere. I doubt there’s even anyone -(around) JAMIE Right there!
18. 7 EXT. OLD SHOP - DAY Jamie pulls over to the side of the road. She points toward a broken down building across the street. There is a sign on the side which reads "John’s Carpentry." On the porch is a HERMIT in a rocking chair. He is wearing a hat, so his face is not visible. Jamie gets out of the car, while Jason stumbles around after her. He is clearly worried about the scenario, but Jamie appears to be clueless. JAMIE (calling out) Excuse me! Sir! Can you give us a hand with something?! JASON (whispering to Jamie) Jamie! What the hell are you doing?! JAMIE (innocently) I’m asking for directions. JASON Ok, fine. But him?! He looks like he’s gonna kills us! JAMIE Oh, please. I’m sure he’s a genuinely nice person. You just need to stop judging people by their looks. Jamie crosses the street, and walks over to the Hermit in the chair. Jason follows her awkwardly in his crutches. JAMIE Um, excuse me. We kinda got lost on the way to my friend’s house, and we were wondering if you could give us directions? HERMIT Yeah, turn around and go right back to where yer from. JAMIE Excuse me? JASON (aside) He’s gonna fucking kill us!
HERMIT You heard me. JAMIE I hope I didn’t. That was actually quite rude. Plus, you don’t even know where we’re going. HERMIT Yer going to that house up over this here hill. JAMIE Ok, what? How do you even know that? HERMIT Because that’s where it is. JAMIE What? HERMIT It’s up there. Been there for years, living off of the people that go in there. Last group was about your age. Maybe a little older. Don’t make much of a difference, it ain’t picky. JAMIE Picky about what? HERMIT What it eats. Jason begins to panic, while Jamie is still suspecting the Hermit. JAMIE If this is some kind of joke, it’s not funny. The Hermit starts to chuckle to himself. HERMIT This ain’t no joke. It’ll lure you in, and when ya feel safe, it’ll tear yer goddamn throat out. CURTIS Hey Jamie!
Jamie turns around and sees Lee as she exits the passenger door of Curtis’ car. Lee gets out, and walks over to Jamie JASON Oh, thank god! CURTIS What’re you all doing? JAMIE Well, we just stopped over here -(and) CURTIS You got lost. JAMIE ...Pretty much. We pulled over to ask someone for directions. CURTIS And you were talking to...? JAMIE This Hermit right here. CURTIS Jamie, there’s no one over there. Jamie turns around. There is no one in the chair where the Hermit was sitting. Jamie looks surprised, while Lee takes her questioning as a joke. CURTIS Oh, I get it. JAMIE Get what? CURTIS You’re trying to pull the classic ’creepy guy warned me about this place,’ aren’t you? JAMIE What? No, I’m not. Hey, mad. that with CURTIS it’s all good. I’m not But if you’re going to go with play, then you’ve got to go something less obvious.
Jamie is stuttering, which Curtis takes as a sign that he’s right. JASON (jumping in) Can we just get out of here? CURTIS O, yeah, sure. Just hop in right behind us, the farm’s the house up over this hill. 20 minutes, tops. Jamie and Jason both look at each other, remembering that the Hermit had already said these exact words. However, they get into Jamie’s car, and follow Curtis up to the farm. They pass through the gate, and as they go through the path that leads to the house itself, Jamie looks over to the side, seeing the abandoned gardening shed to the right. The camera moves back to her, as she shakes off her thoughts of what the Hermit said.
EXT. FARM - AFTERNOON Jamie pulls over next to Curtis, who is already exiting the vehicle. Brett opens the rear door, and walks out as he puts his shirt back on. Lee and Tiffany also get out of the car, Lee noticeably angry. Curtis goes to console her, but she immediately breaks off. Curtis sighs, as he turns back around to help with everyone’s baggage. Jamie gets out of the car, and looks at the farmhouse itself. It seems charming, but there is a slight sense of fear emanating from the building itself. Jamie is fixated on the building, until Curtis yells out to Jesse. CURTIS Holy shit! Look what the cat dragged in! Jamie looks to the right, only to see JESSE as he walks up to the group. Jesse is wearing a short sleeved button down shirt and jeans, and has obviously been working around the farmhouse. Curtis walks up to meet him, and the two shake hands with each other. Jamie walks up behind him, mesmerized by Jesse. Behind her are Lee, Brett and Tiffany, and finally Jason. CURTIS Jesus Christ, man. What the hell have they been feedin ya? JESSE (earnestly) Well, you know, just the normal food and stuff. Do y’all need help unpacking CURTIS We could use it. Tiffany brought her entire fucking wardrobe with her. JESSE Who? Curtis lets out a stuttered laugh, realizing that he has forgotten to introduce Jesse to the rest of the group. He turns around, and points to each individual as he says their name. CURTIS Sorry, completely forgot my introductions. Ok, speed run from left to right. Guys, this is Jesse, my cousin. Jesse, This is Brett, my (MORE) (CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: CURTIS (cont’d) room mate. He’s dating the chick next to him, Tiffany. to the right of them is my girlfriend, Lee. (aside) she’s kinda pissed at me right now. JESSE Ok. So Brett, Tiffany, Lee. Gosh, there sure are a lot of ya. CURTIS Yeah... Oh wait, completely forgot about Jamie. Jamie, Jesse. Alright, great, now let’s go inside.
Curtis begins to rub his hands, as if he has something good waiting inside for him. He, Brett, and Tiffany all go to the car to go get their things. Jamie, meanwhile, is still standing next to Jesse, who is also attracted to her. JAMIE Um, look, I’m really sorry that there’s so many of us here. I know it’s a hassle. JESSE What? Oh, no mam, you got it all wrong. It’s no hassle for me at all. JAMIE Really? Oh, that’s great, thank you so much. JESSE Can I help you with your bags? JASON (interjecting) I got ’em already. Jason approaches Jesse from behind him, indicating that he has somehow carried Jamie’s luggage to the farmhouse. JESSE Well, ok then. And Hiya there, I’m Jesse. Don’t think that Curt here introduced us. Jesse extends his hand for a handshake, but Jason is still in his crutches. Jesse awkwardly tries to shake hands, but eventually just retracts his arm and gives an awkward wave.
JASON You think you’re funny? JAMIE Jason. JESSE (earnestly) Well, I don’t think I’m that funny, but I’ve got a good joke every now and then. JASON You mother fu-(cker) JAMIE (sternly) Jason! Jason stops, looks at Jamie, and realizes the love triangle that has developed. He scoffs, and turns around to head back into the farm. Jamie sighs as Jesse turns back around to talk. JESSE Well, ain’t he an odd sort of fella? JAMIE I’m sorry. Don’t take Jason personally, he’s just looking out for me is all. JESSE Oh, ok. Well, I should go in and help everybody get settled in. Probably have to go get some more food ready too. JAMIE (jumping in) I can help! I mean, I’d love to! JESSE Great! Heck, I could use an extra hand or two in the kitchen. Jamie smiles at Jesse, who in turn give a slight grin. The two walk into the farmhouse as the camera dollies out.
INT. FARMHOUSE - AFTERNOON The camera cuts to inside of the house as Jamie and Jesse walk inside. Brett is already looking around and through the windows, while Tiffany is clearly not happy with the conditions. BRETT (to Jesse) Bro, this house is dank! JESSE (confused) Um, well thanks. Jesse turns around and sees Curtis as he runs up the steps to the farmhouse. He walks in, fiddling with his hands in excitement. CURTIS Ok, ok. It’s in the guestroom, right? JESSE Yeah. CURTIS Perfect. Jesse, you are the best. The best, you hear me. Curtis gives Jesse a pat on the back, and rushes upstairs. JAMIE What was that about? JESSE Well Curt was growing a plant and needed me to water her. He’s probably just goin to check up on her. Suddenly, the group hears Curtis scream out in terror. JAMIE What was that?! JESSE Dunno. Jesse reaches over and grabs a baseball bat. Jamie looks at him, he nods, and the group slowly begins to move up the staircase. As they reach the top, the suspense begins to build more and more. Jesse turns the corner, headed toward (CONTINUED)
the guestroom. Curtis eventually stumbles outside of the door frame, and scrambles toward the guard rail. Struggling to get up, he grabs onto Jesse for support. JESSE What happened? CURTIS It’s...Oh god, oh god. Why? Why?! JESSE (repeating himself) What happened? Curtis looks at the rest of the group in complete despair. CURTIS It’s all gone. JAMIE What’s gone? CURTIS My weed! Who took my weed?! Everyone lets out a sound of confusion. SAMUEL It was I. The group all turns around to see SAMUEL. Samuel is dressed like a cleric, and proceeds from the opposite corner of the house. As he talks, Samuel continues to walk forward until he reaches Curtis. SAMUEL You, my good sir, disgust me. The fact that you would use your own cousin to unknowingly assist you in the business of an illicit activity is beyond repulsive. But the good lord is kind and merciful. He can save you, so long as you follow the right path. Curtis looks at Samuel with confusion for a short period of time. Suddenly, he attacks Samuel, grabbing onto him as Jesse holds him back. CURTIS Who the fuck do you think you are?! You think you can fucking take my weed and get away with (MORE) (CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: CURTIS (cont’d) it?! I’ll fucking kill you! Where is it?!
Jesse finally restrains Curtis, who is still in a fit of rage. Samuel fixes his collar and shirt, and regains his composure SAMUEL Well, I guess that some men truly are always looking for what it is they will never find. CURTIS Wait a second. You didn’t get rid of it, did you? It’s still here somewhere. Curtis dashes out and down the stairs, in hopes that he can find the plant. Jamie looks back at Samuel after Curtis is gone. JAMIE So, who are you again? JESSE Aw, sorry guys. This here’s my friend. SAMUEL (interrupting) Samuel James Otule. Brett chuckles slightly. BRETT (aside) O’tule. SAMUEL I am the priest residing over this county. JAMIE Wow. SAMUEL Do you not believe me? JAMIE Well, it’s just that you’re so young. I didn’t think that you’d be a full priest.
SAMUEL I have already proven myself to the church and the lord. I have no reason to prove myself to you. Samuel walks away from the group. JESSE Well. I’m gonna go cook up some grub. Jamie, can I get a hand? JAMIE Sure. Jesse and Jamie head downstairs, and the group disbands.
EXT. FARM - AFTERNOON The scene shifts to Curtis as he desperately searches for his drugs. He stumbles around, and is becoming more and more desperate. Eventually, he comes to the garage. There is a basketball on the pavement, which he picks up and throws against the door. After throwing the ball, Curtis finally realizes something. He opens the garage door, and the camera cuts to a close up of Curtis’ face as he shows an enormous grin. Curtis jumps around in joy. The camera looks like a pov shot from someone unknown, and moves behind a tree to avoid being seen.
INT. DINING AREA - LATE AFTERNOON The scene cuts open to Jamie and Jesse go into the dining area, only to find Lee smoking a cigarette. She is obviously upset, which Jamie notices immediately. JAMIE (caring) Hey, what’s wrong? LEE Just leave me alone. JAMIE Is this about Curtis? LEE I don’t wanna talk about it. JAMIE (To Jesse) Can you give us a sec? Jesse acknowledges, and leaves the room. lee finally bursts out. LEE He’s such a fucking prick! JAMIE What happened? LEE Ugh, nothing. It’s just that no matter what we do, he cares more about his fucking weed than anything else. Oh please. true. JAMIE You know that’s not Once he is gone,
LEE ...ugh, I know. I just want him to focus on something other than getting high. JAMIE Like you? LEE Yes, like me!
JAMIE He pays pretty much attention to you. LEE Uh, bull shit. He probably doesn’t even realize that I’m mad at him. JAMIE Of course he does! I mean, he didn’t bring you here just to ignore you. LEE (in retort) Then why is he?! JAMIE (angrily) He’s not ignoring you! You need to stop getting mad at him for everything! Lee sighs, realizing that Jamie is right. JAMIE I’m sorry, I didn’t mean toLEE No. You’re right. Jesus Jamie, you need to get mad more often. The camera cuts outside to the back porch, once again to the perspective of someone from the outside. the camera watches the two girls as they converse, silently. The camera moves towards the back door, and goes to the doorknob. The camera cuts again to the inside, but the two hear the sound of the doorknob being turned. The door suddenly is slammed open, and the girls gasp out of shock. However, it is only Curtis at the door. LEE What the fuck, Curtis? the shit out of me. Oh, sorry. CURTIS My bad. You scared
LEE You’re damn right it’s your bad. God, of all the things for you to...
Lee looks over at Jamie, who is giving her an angered look. Lee pauses, and realizes her fault. CURTIS Look, I’m sorry, ok? LEE No, I’m sorry. I know I’ve been kinda bitchy lately. CURTIS (jokingly) Lately? LEE Fuck off. Lee kisses and hugs Curtis. As they do so, Curtis looks over at Jamie, and silently mouths the words "thank you". Jamie smiles back at him, and turns around to leave the room. However, Samuel bursts into the kitchen. SAMUEL Both of you Should be ashamed of yourselves. Such profound activity, and In front of another person. Samuel reaches over and pulls Lee away from Curtis. However, upon seeing her face, Samuel is awestruck and immediately falls in love. The camera crash zooms on his face as he is horrified by this, and he immediately runs away from the scene. LEE The fuck? CURTIS Why is he even here?! The camera moved outside of the house, as the three are laughing. Once again, the camera appears to be following a point of view shot of someone. The camera moves away from the house, and towards the woods. The camera makes many cuts, but continues to remain a pov shot. Eventually, the camera reaches a shed. It opens the door, and picks up an axe from the side.
INT. DINING ROOM, NIGHT The scene shifts to the group as they eat dinner. Jason hobbles in, and sits down as far away from Jamie as possible. She sits next to Jesse, who is next to Curtis then Lee. On the other side is Tiffany, who is sitting next to Brett who is next to Samuel. Jason is obviously irritable as he sits next to Samuel, who is holding his cross and silently praying. JASON What the hell are you doing? SAMUEL I am thanking the lord for this meal which I am about to receive. JASON How about you thank the people who actually made the food? SAMUEL Because I thank the lord for everything that I am privileged to have. As should you. BRETT (trying to diffuse the situation) Yo, We’re not super hungry, so me an Tiffany are gonna go out and take a little walk. CURTIS (disgusted) Go on ahead. LEE (sharing Curtis’ disgust) please. BRETT Thanks, bro! Brett and Tiffany get up and leave the room. JASON (still arguing) As should I? What the fuck have I got to be thankful for.
SAMUEL Everything. Your life, your youth, your wealth. JASON (interrupting) My Inability to walk. The entire room goes silent. SAMUEL The...the lord gives adversity for people to overcome it. JASON Are you saying that someone made me this way? Oh, yeah, I’m totally going to worship the douchebag who made me a cripple. SAMUEL How dare you. JASON How dare I? How dare you! I’m a fucking freak, and you’re bashing me because I wanna be normal?! No, fuck you, fuck your "god," and fuck your prayer. Jason gets up and leaves the dining room without touching his food. SAMUEL Well, my word! I never knew there were such faith deprived fools in this world! CURTIS (mumbling) I didn’t know there were so many fuckin pricks in the world. The whole table focuses it’s attention on Curtis. He looks over to Lee, who is staring at him with a look of shock and anger. CURTIS (to Lee) What?
SAMUEL You are the prime example of what is wrong with society. CURTIS (refocusing his attention) And you’re the prime example of a blind and hypocritical dick. SAMUEL Excuse me? Lee hits Curtis’ arm out of embarrassment and anger. CURTIS No. You can’t judge him for being pissed. He’s a fuckin cripple! You can’t judge him unless you’re a fuckin cripple too. SAMUEL Oh, but I can judge you. CURTIS Um, no you can’t. Not unless you’ve smoked weed. SAMUEL Why would I ever take a step towards evil? Curtis smiles. Evil? evil? CURTIS What the fuck makes weed
SAMUEL It is an illegal substance. CURTIS Illegal substance. Ya know, you keep throwing around those words, but they don’t mean jack shit. I mean, you really follow is the bible, right? SAMUEL (curious) Yes.
CURTIS Well, great. What the fuck do you think Moses was doing then? SAMUEL Excuse me? CURTIS You heard me. I mean, he talked to a burning bush for Christ’s sake. The scene becomes more ominous as Doug delves further into the wooded path. Suddenly, he hears the shattering of a window in the distance. Doug quickly doubles back to the car. He gets to the gate, which is wide open. Doug stops momentarily, but looks over to the car, realizing the lights are now off. Doug pulls out his pistol, and moves towards the vehicle. DOUG (Calling out as he approaches) Howie? You in there? Doug gets to the door, and peeps inside. Inside, he sees the body of Howie, mutilated and murdered. Doug falls back, shocked. CURTIS (holding his hand up as a signal) Hold up. The group stops. The faint sound of leaves rustling can be heard, and it continues to get louder and louder, as if approaching the group. Curtis draws a knife in expectation. Jesse does the same. The two of them slowly move towards the rustling sound, which is growing louder and louder. JAMIE (whispering to Lee) They’re not actually thinking about taking it on, are they?! LEE (whispering) They’ll be ok. Curtis and Jesse know what they’re doing. Suddenly, Doug pops out from the woods, still scrambling. He is also right in front of Jesse and Curtis. Curtis attempts to stab Doug, but he pins the teen down against the ground. Doug also pulls out his gun at Jesse. DOUG (shouting) Freeze! Jesse immediately raises his arms, knife in hand. DOUG (shouting) You have the right to remain silent! However, when they reach an open field, Jamie turns around and sees the Gardener with a lawnmower. He is also walking towards them. She screams, and as the rest of the group notices the figure approaching them, they quickly begin to fall apart. Jason is left behind, as he slowly stumbles forward. However, one of his crutches snag on a root, and he falls to the ground. Jason tries to stumble away, but the Gardener reaches him. Jason turns around and raises his arm in defense. He screams, as the Gardener raises the lawnmower and slams it into him. There is a splatter of blood everywhere, and the Gardener gruesomely pounds the mower into Jason’s corpse repeatedly.
EXT. FARM - CONTINUING The attention shifts to the group as they scramble towards the cars. Jesse hops in the driver’s seat, with Jamie in shotgun. Curtis gives Jesse the keys, and he turns them to start the car. However, the car doesn’t start. CURTIS You’ve gotta be fucking kidding me. How more cliche can this get? JAMIE He’s coming! The group looks over, and notices the Gardener as he walks over slowly towards the area. Jesse quickly tries to start the car, but to no avail. JESSE C’mon... Hurry! JAMIE
Lee looks over at Doug, and notices his pistol. LEE Oh, for the love of God! Lee grabs the pistol from Doug, and exits the vehicle. Curtis also gets out to accompany her. Lee gets out and walks towards the Gardener at the same pace as it is to her. However, when they are about fifteen feet away from each other, Lee stops and shoots the Gardener. It stumbles back, and Lee shoots again. This time, the Gardener drops to the ground. CURTIS (shocked) You...You did it. Lee walks over to the Gardener, and repeatedly shoots it. As she does so, she screams in anger and pain. Once that is over, she looks over at Curtis, revealing tears rolling down her eyes. Curtis feigns a smile out of relief. However, this is short lived, as the Gardener grabs Lee’s hand and pulls her to the ground. CURTIS (yelling out) No! The camera shifts to Jamie, as she is still inside of the car.
JAMIE (under her breath) Oh my god. Curtis runs to try and save Lee, but he is pulled back by Doug. Curtis tries to break through Doug in order to reach Lee, but he grabs the teen and shoves him around again. CURTIS What the fuck are you doing?! DOUG I’m saving your life! You think that you stand a chance against that thing?! CURTIS You think that I give a fuck?! I can’t just leave her there to die! DOUG She’s already gone! There’s nothin you can do to save her! Curtis lowers his head, and coughs up blood. The Gardener rips the rake out from Curtis, who falls down, dead. Jamie continues to scream, and Jesse moves in front of her as protection. Doug, on the other hand, is already moving, and tackles the Gardener. DOUG (turning around to Jesse and Jamie) Run! While Doug attempts to pin the Gardener, the two teens escape into the woods. However, the Gardener quickly takes control of the situation, and throws Doug off of it. Doug tries to regain himself and run, but the Gardener is too fast for him. It picks up the rake and swipes at Doug, hitting him in the arm. Doug screams in pain, but avoids a majority of the attack. However, his arm is critically injured, and there is blood pouring down it. Doug tries to scramble away, but stumbles and falls. He crawls for his life, but the Gardener approaches him menacingly. It takes the rake, and thrusts it down upon Doug, killing him. It leaves the rake in Doug, as it goes after Jesse and Jamie. However, once it leaves, Doug’s body twitches, and a taint of green moves into his dripping blood.

However, Samuel is no longer pinned on the side of the shed, unbeknown to Jamie or Jesse. In his place are patches of this green liquid that was found on Doug after his death. The camera moves inside of the shed, with Jamie hiding in the corner of the shed, exactly like the girl in the opening. However, Jesse is inspecting the area, and grabs an axe. He is fully prepared to fight, unlike Jamie. The two are silent as a pair of footsteps approach, and Jamie is clinging onto Jesse. JESSE (whispering) Listen. I’m gonna hold him off for a little. So you get on out’a here. JAMIE (whimpering) No, no. Please don’t go. Jesse grabs a hold of the rattled Jamie. JESSE Hey, it’s gonna be alright. Suddenly, the shed door is swung open, revealing the Gardener standing over the teens menacingly. Jesse yells out, and attacks the gardener with his axe. He stabs the Gardener, which seems to have some effect, as the Gardener stumbles backwards. However, it quickly regains it’s composure, and throws Jesse across and against a tree. When he hits the tree, a branch goes through his side. Jesse falls to the ground. He grips the branch, and pulls it out, holding back his screams. He lies on the ground as the Gardener looks over at the terrified Jamie. She is frozen with fear, and as the Gardener approaches she begins to panic. Grasping for anything that she can use, Jamie eventually grabs a container of pesticides, and fumbles it around. JAMIE Look! Jamie looks over at Jesse, who is clearly fading. She moves him over to the car, and opens the door. Howie is no longer in the vehicle, but there is a green bile that is covering the seat. Jamie notices this, and decides to put Jesse in the back of the car. After she closes the door, Jamie looks over back into the farm area, and notices something moving towards her. She notices that it is Doug, and immediately starts to move back towards him. When she gets around ten feet from him, she notices that something is off. Doug is covered in the green liquid, and is stumbling around, exactly like a zombie. Jamie stops walking towards him. JAMIE Officer? Doug suddenly runs and grabs Jamie. She tries to get him off of her, but he is growling and attempting to bite her. She reaches over to Jesse, but notices that the green bile is now pouring from his wound as well. No. JAMIE Oh god, please no.
