City of Fort Worth Public Safety Communicator I 911 Operator

The Fort Worth Police Department is having a Job Fair for 911 Calltakers When: May 18th from 9:00AM-2:00PM Where: Fort Worth Police Academy 1000 Calvert Fort Worth, Texas 76107
EDUCATION/JOB REQUIREMENTS: Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) required High School Diploma or GED Certificate required PLUS at least two (2) years of emergency call taking customer service or public safety dispatch experience desirable. Minimum two (2) years work stability on at least one previous job. Requires excellent oral communication skills, the ability to deal with stressful situations and demonstrated decision-making skills. Extensive telephone and public contact skills required. Microsoft Windows NT skills and abilities preferred. CITIZENSHIP: Must be a U. S. Citizen at the time of application. (Must be able to read and write the English Language). TRAINING: Phase I of training involves learning to respond per specific procedures and guidelines to a wide variety of emergency and routine requests from the public to 911. Phase II of training involves working directly with police officers to dispatch patrol units in response to 911 calls and officer requests for other types of information and services. Successful completion of both phases of training is required for continued employment. Additionally, employees must complete 40 hours of state mandated Telecommunicator training within one year of employment. Under close supervision, receive and evaluate calls from the public requesting police assistance; input and transmit call information using computer aided dispatching equipment; operate two-way radio to dispatch calls to patrol units and to receive and communicate information; respond to emergency and routine requests from the public and officers by following specific procedures and guidelines. BACKGROUND CHECK: Final candidates will be subject to a comprehensive criminal and personal b a c k g r o u n d investigation, polygraph examination, and drug test. Applicants must not have used marijuana during the last 12 months nor illegally used any controlled substances within the last ten (10) years. EXAMINATION: Must pass CritiCall Skills Assessment Test: passing score= 75 Overall and 3,152 Keystrokes NOTE: ALL new hires in this classification are required to work 2nd or 3rd shifts, WEEKENDS, HOLIDAYS, and OVERTIME as necessary. Shift Differential Pay: $0.50 I hour for 2nd Shift and $0.75 I hour for 3rd Shift. This is a 24 hour 7 days a week operation including weekends and holidays.
