Teen Arrested and Facing Terrorism Charges For Rap About Boston Marathon Bombing
The suburban teenager is being held on $1 million bail, and faces possibly 20 years. May 2, 2013 | A Massachusetts high school student faces felony charges for allegedly posting on social media rap lyrics that police say amount to terrorist threats, the Valley Patriot reports. He posted a threat in the form of rap where he mentioned the White House, the Boston Marathon bombing, and said everybody you will see what I am going to do, kill people, said Joe Solomon, who is police chief of Methuen, a city in north Massachusetts. According to a press release from the Methuen Police Department, 18-year-old Cameron DAmbrosio posted the alleged threatening rap on Facebook. Police investigated the teenager after one of DAmbrosio's classmates reported to Methuen High School authorities the disturbing verbiage on his Facebook page. The press release notes that the alleged threats were in general and not directed towards another person or the school. According to the Eagle Tribune, DAmbrosio was charged with communicating a terrorist threat and faces up to 20 years in jail. He is being held on $1 million bail. All this, for writing some scary rap lyrics on Facebook. In addition to arresting DAmbrosio, police searched the teenagers home and confiscated a computer and Xbox. They searched the Facebook page for additional clues to the amateur rapper's activities. The Valley Patriot has their findigs: DAmbrosio also had disturbing photos and posts on his Facebook page including Fuck politics, Fuck Obama and Fuck the government!! He also had a disturbing satanic photo posted as well as a photo of himself on a Wanted Poster that reads Wanted Dead or Alive a quick perusal of his Facebook page shows DAmbrosios unusual interest in gangs, violence and a criminal lifestyle. The 18-year-old alleged "terrorist," whose only crime in this case appears to be posting rap lyrics on Facebook, will be arraigned Thursday. Sandra Duffy 3 hours ago

I can't say as I blame the police in your country for an excess of caution at this stage. The next Sandyhook or Boston is likely being planned by some nutty young guy as we speak. how are they supposed to know who's a harmless attention seeker and who is a dangerous attention seeker? They all look the same until they pull the trigger. isnamthere Sandra Duffy 2 hours ago Hell, it might even be you. Maybe they should exercise caution and investigate. CitizenVet Sandra Duffy 2 hours ago Absolutely! When they don't know, or aren't sure, the best thing to do is just chuck them in prison to be safe! In fact, we should put everybody outside of law enforcement or political leadership in prison unless and until the imprisoned can prove themselves innocent and harmless and no potential future threat. That would finally make this a completely safe country! twojarslave 3 hours ago This is outrageous. Ron Paul, the man this site loves to hate, hit the nail on the head. The governments response to the bombings is unacceptable to any who value freedom. CitizenVet 2 hours ago Not into rap. That being said, why is there so little outrage over this? Are people that complacent about surrendering their constitutional rights, or has everybody just become that stupid, or too distracted to care? There used to be a First Amendment protection of speech. Reading this story begs the question of whether, had these laws been in place in the 1960s (and acquiesced to by the citizenry), would Bob Dylan (The Times They Are A-changin', Desolation Row), Barry McGuire (Eve of Destruction), or the Doors (Five to One) be in prison on terrorism charges? Or, in the '70s, perhaps Bob Marley (I Shot the Sheriff)? John Smith CitizenVet an hour ago People in general, have been successfully conditioned to accept suspension of rights to chase bogey-men/terrorists. It's pretty scary to anyone with a brain that still works. Jeff M Walden 2 hours ago He can say what he wants this is outragous dismissel of Freedom of Speech!

TruckerMark 2 hours ago Dang, is that all that this kid did? We could probably arrest every Tea-nut in the country for the same thing too, which would solve a whole lot of our problems in one fell-swoop! Remember what they said long ago" "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me". TruckerMark an hour ago But the Tea Baggers support the status quo. You know, no taxes for millionaires, no food stamps, no governement programs for the poor, no unions,... the whole shebang. That makes their death rants just a bunch o' good ole' boys venting, and none of yo' damn business. THIS potential terrorist was using artistic freedom in an unapproved fasion, and was potentally AGAINST Imperial wars and fascism....that is dangerous. THIS one goes to Guantanamo for further interrogation. Nothing to see here, move along, and have another beer. PithHelmut an hour ago First the FBI overlooked the Boston bombers. Now every time somebody squeaks, they charge them with terrorism. I guess some people have very bad discernment skills. photoshock 40 minutes ago This nation has now become the land of the enslaved and the home of the fearful. WTF is wrong with this picture??? onetree 5 minutes ago So the end of freedom of speech has now arrived? Or is it a war against teenagers? cj 4 minutes ago I guess freedom of speech is only for allowing corps worth billions to contribute as much as they want to political candidates in exchange for legislative favors these days. Perhaps our free trade agreements gave companies the freedom to learn dark things from each other, like oppression tactics. Let freedom ring ... as long as its only for owning military grade automatic guns and lining the pockets of conservative politicians.
