a monument to

the monument of imagination provides everyday people with the opportunity to activate their imagination, allowing them to think as they did when they were children, when elephants could fly and the grass could be any color you wanted it to be.

This monument would be located in the Shakespeare Garden, in Central Park. Sandwiched near the highly trafficked main pathway between the American Museum of Natural History and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

A fitting place for a monument dedicated to imagination when those two museums also are a source of such wonderment for kids and adults alike.

As we get closer you can see the exact location of the space within the Shakespeare Park in which we have chosen to place our monument.

the monument holds a circled area filled with a ton of accessible legos. surrounding this area, the landscape is open for people to build around and onto. this provides people the ability to use these legos to transform their regular surroundings into whatever they like, whether it be abstract or realistic.

why legos you ask? legos are something that people of all ages can directly relate to their childhood. legos were one of the first toys that granted us the ability to create whatever we wanted, as if the building blocks to our wild imaginations. this process would look something like this...

(after finished) after awhile, the legos would build up making people more inspired to continue building onto past creations or more prone to add their own.
