Creates mismatches - Gets athlete's in space Dictates the Defense - We know what the defense is going to do. Defense must dedicate 4-5 defenders to pass defense Varied Tempo Thunder - No huddle, slower tempo, check with me Lightening - Strike fast, use at end of half or end of game Run / Pass - We want to run the ball - run 2 to 1 pass ratio Hard to replicate in practice for opponent Flexibility - Any pass, any time! WHY UNBALANCED SPREAD? It's unique and unfamiliar May attack the short side quickly QB can threaten short side in 1 step, he's our best athlete - Like the odds of him making a play Defense must adjust in the alignment and technique Now defense has a DE aligned over an offensive guard who can pull, DE has to learn new technique QB can see to Quick side or short side of field easily. PRINCIPLES OF THE SPREAD OFFENSE QB MUST BE DUAL THREAT IF A PLAYER CAN'T RUN, HE CAN'T PLAY! Players must be able to move O-Line more so then being able to move defenders - They just need to get

in their way or get run over slowly. RECEIVERS MUST BLOCK - 6 OR 60 YARDS?! WR's are graded on blocking If they don't block they don't play DUMB WILL GET YOU BEAT! Limit the amount of plays for these players.
