It gives me immense pleasure to touch base with you all again through this last announcement brochure. Being at the helm of affairs I am pleased to inform you that we are on course with all our preparation for a very successful and eventful PEDICON 2012. With only a month remaining to this mega event, the entire organizing committee is now fully geared up, and working round the clock to make this PEDICON a memorable one for all the IAPians. All the aspects of the event are being looked into at a micro level and all possible efforts are being put in to eradicate any form of short coming. By the time you read these lines the festive season would be over and you all would be getting ready to welcome new year with lot of hope, we, the organizing committee wish all our fellow colleagues and their families all the best for 2012 and pray that God grants peace and success to you all. While I would personally request and appreciate maximum participation for the success of this mega event, it would be in your interest also, to register for PEDICON 2012, as thorough detailing and planning has gone into the scientific part which would be a unique experience. We can assure you that when you go back home you will definitely have more to take in terms of scientific knowledge. However this does not imply that PEDICON 2012 would be only learning and no fun. We are bound to change this perception and have planned a lot of events for you to unwind from the monotonous work. Not only you but the accompanying delegates and kids will also have a lot to cheer about as numerous activities are planned to keep them busy and in high spirits which would be in line with the lovely weather in Gurgaon during that time, It now all depends upon the participation of my fellow colleagues to make this PEDICON 2012 a mega success and with a lot of hope, myself and the entire organizing committee waits for the Dday to welcome you all to this city of Gurgaon with open hands and warm hearts. Eagerly looking forward to your visit.

The theme Nurture with care has been very carefully chosen after a lot of deliberation and thinking for PEDICON 2012. These two words Nurture and Care have a great implication and hold in depth meaning within themselves. We have incorporated both these powerful words to make a strong statement towards the careful nurturing of girl child, right from mothers womb to her rise as a powerful pillar of modern and liberal India. The theme for PEDICON 2012 is related to girl child and is directly related to the development and growth of girl child who is not held in high esteem, even today, in a age where in we, as a society boast of entering into 21st century. Through this theme of PEDICON 2012, we IAPians are making an effort to initiate a campaign against this ailing mindset of certain sections of the society and be a part of revolution which will evolve tomorrow. From this platform we intend to send our strong sentiments, of girl child being treated at par with her male counterparts, where she gets the same love, affection, nutrition, education and equal chances to excel along with self respect which is long overdue.
This baton of Nurture with Care needs to spread across our diverse country and more so in distant regions where the girl child is still considered as a curse. We tend to forget that our basis of existence has always been a girl child who, with time evolved to become a mother and the reason for our life on this planet. Its is time now that we have to realise the realities surrounding us with regard to girl child and should pledge in earnest to work towards the betterment of girl child in every aspect. We need to create an atmosphere of love and affection for the girl child. Please join us and say Nurture with Care
15th JANUARY 2012 CHILD FESTIVAL Keeping in line with our theme and emphasis on girl child we have planned out a small festival for children where in we will be holding various activities pertaining to children. The activities have been designed to keep the children busy and interested through various games of physical activity and mental aptitude. The basic idea of holding this festival is to provide entertainment along with some learning.

About Gurgaon
Gurgaon, once a small sleepy town in the neighborhood of Delhi, has grown by leaps and bounds during the last decade and rightly earned the name Millennium City of today. This city in the last decade, has evolved to be the lifeline for the capital in terms of space, the most valued thing today. Gurgaon, has emerged as an alternate to Delhi for all its needs be it, space for investment, housing, technology, foreign investments etc. You name it and it is there. At a time when Delhi was reeling under tremendous population pressure and space constraint, Gurgaon stood up and took it all. A lot has been written about this Millennium City and is often compared with Mumbai the city of dreams, where thousands of people arrive daily and get absorbed in the daily stream of life in pursuit of their dreams. However this status of City of Dreams conferred to Mumbai might be in jeopardy as our own Millennium City is fast emerging to this status. The trend shows that city is inspiring many of its residents to pursue their own dreams, in a way no other city in north India ever has. You can find numerous people with amazing stories of self-discovery and people going all out to realize their dreams into reality. Red Fort Built by the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan between 1638 and 1648, The fort is octagonal in shape, like most Islamic buildings in India. The north of the fort is connected to the smaller Salimgarh fort. The Red Fort is an intimidating structure.with its rampart walls covering a perimeter of 2.41km. with the height varying from 18 mts. on the river side to 33 mts. on the city side. The entry to this splendid fort is from the Lahori Gate or the Chatta Chowk. This gate got such a historical name from the direction as it is facing towards the Lahore which is now in Pakistan. On Independence day of India - 15th August each year, the Prime Minister of this nation addresses the country as well as unfurls the national flag. Proceed to Jama Msajid which stands across the road from the Red Fort. It is the largest mosque in India built in yellow sandstone, it combines the best of Hindu and Muslim styles of architecture, standing on 260 pillars supporting 15 domes at varying elevations. Proceed to Kinari Bazaar, just behind the Gurdwara Sisganj and Sunehri Masjid on Chandni Chowk it is largest market dealing in weddi ng accessories. They have large stocks of sehra (groom's turban), garlands made beautifully from gold and silver tinsel and crisp currency notes, bridal jewellery and other accessories required during a wedding ceremony. The shops cater to the needs of people belonging to mostly all religions. Afternoon visit New Delhi starting with Visit the Humayun's tomb. is a grand affair, built by his widow who brought 300 craftsmen from Persia for this job. This magnificent tomb in red sandstone, crowned by a glorious double-dome in marble stands on a terrace, Char Bagh-the authentic Islamic lay out for a paradise on earth. Four canals divide the garden into four sections. In the central domed chamber is Humayun's grave lying in isolated grandeur. Some less fortunate later Mughal princes are also buried here. In 1857, Bahadur shah II sought refuge in the tomb but was captured, tried and exiled.
Drive past India Gate and Rastrapati Bhavan. Stop briefly at India Gate, constructed as a memorial and was built in the memory of 90,00 soldiers who laid down their lives during world war I. Located at Rajpath, India Gate is 42 m high and is also known as the All India War Memorial, India Gate was designed and constructed by Lutyens. He was the who is considered the chief proclaimer in designing the New Delhi plans.
Lastly visit The Qutab Minar, a five story victory tower, was started in 1193 by Qutb-ud-Din-Aibak, the first Muslim Sultan of Delhi. Constructed of red sandstone, the five story 238-foot high tower served as a minaret to call the faithful to prayer. At the same time, Qutb-ud-Din-Aibak began building Quwwat-ul-Islam Masjid, the first mosque in India (pictured above). The mosque was constructed from the spoils of 27 demolished Hindu temples whose figures of gods and goddesses were defaced.
An iron pillar stands in the courtyard in front of the mosque (center, above). The pillar, which was built during the Gupta Empire (a Hindu empire in India from 320 to about 335AD), may be a tribute to Lord Vishnu. It is made of such pure iron that it has never rusted. According to legend, anyone who can encircle the pillar by standing with their back to the pillar and clasping their hands together will have his wish granted. Unfortunately, the pillar is now surrounded by a fence and we were not able to test our ability to encircle the pillar. Late evening back to your place of stay.

To wander around the red sandstone courtyards of this World Heritage Site is to travel back in time to an Imperial splendour. The buildings at Fatehpur Sikri belong to a composite style of architecture with the predominating Islamic style cleverly blended with local Rajasthani and Gujarati styles, a melting pot of cultures. In its heyday, the city was a large and magnificent township; this is clearly visible even today, centuries after it was abandoned.

More than three centuries later, the monument retains its romantic aura. Set like a jewel within gardens whose fourfold design echoes the Islamic idea of paradise, its millions of visitors marvel at the play of light on its marble dome which seems to turn from rose to pearl with the passage of the sun. There is much to see the exquisite calligraphy, the lyrical floral motifs of the pietra dura decorations which form a mosaic of colour; and the fountains and canals of the gardens which reflect the monument in a series of ethereal images (TAJ MAHAL CLOSED ON FRIDAYS) Overnight at hotel.

All India Pediatricians Tennis Tournament
Tennis is a sport usually played between two players (singles) or between two teams of two players each (doubles). Each player uses a racket that is strung to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over a net into the opponent's court. Tennis is an Olympic sport and is played at all levels of society at all ages. The sport can be played by anyone who can hold a racket, including people in wheelchairs. The modern game of tennis originated in Birmingham, England in the late 19th century as "lawn tennis" which has close connections to various field/lawn games as well as to the ancient game of real tennis. Up to then, "tennis" referred to the latter sport: for example, in Disraeli's novel Sybil (1845), Lord Eugene De Vere announces that he will "go down to Hampton Court and play tennis. As it is the Derby [classic horse race], nobody will be there. After its creation, lawn tennis spread throughout the upper-class English-speaking population before spreading around the world. Tennis is enjoyed by millions of recreational players and is also a hugely popular worldwide spectator sport, especially the four Grand Slam tournaments (also referred to as the "Majors"): the Australian Open played on hard courts, the French Open played on red clay courts, Wimbledon played on grass courts, and the US Open played also on hard courts. Date of Lawn Tennis Tournament: - 21st January 2012 For Further details contact: Dr. Rajeev Chabra 9818460259 Pedicon2012@gmail.com
