By Reggie Aspiras Philippine Daily Inquirer First Posted 22:47:00 06/11/2008 MANILA, PhilippinesI first heard of Judy Sim through Grace Yu, a student of mine who gave me a copy of Sims anti-cancer diet. Sim and I have become friends. She is a survivorlike a cat with nine lives. Hers is almost an incredible story. Born blind, she regained her sight when she turned one, through her mothers love and care. When she was eight, she fell from the third floor of a building to a concrete pavement, injuring, as luck would have it, only a knee. Suffering from dysmenorrhea, at age 18, she took medicine that destroyed her thyroid gland. In 1964, while enrolled in graduate school in the US, she met a car accident and was given a very slim chance of survival. She went into a coma. When she emerged from the coma, she underwent surgery eight times, between 1964 and 1981, to save fractured bones. After that, she suffered from osteoporosis and osteoarthritis, also from pancreatitis that led to complications. In 1995 in San Francisco, as she was getting off a bus, her neck got entangled in a strap of the moving busa freak accident that almost killed her. Also around this time, she drank, by mistake, a highly corrosive hydrogen peroxide solution. In March 2005 her digestive system stopped functioning, apparently due to pesticide and chemical residues from food shed been taking for years. Without a doubt, Judy Sim is one amazing woman of great charisma and charm. In encounters with her, you cant but feel her purity and serenity. A staunch believer in alternative medicine, a pancreatic cancer survivor diagnosed in 1992, she healed herself, you could say, through research and faith. This is just my way, not the only way, nor the best way, nor am I claiming it to be 100 percent effective. But to those I have shared it with, the diet had changed their lives and healed them. It is an alternative means to wellness, she said. All I desire in the remaining years I have left, the length of which only the Lord knows, is to share. Share what I know, share what I have learned so others may benefit. I have survived and refuse to surrender to cancer and today, I am sharing what worked and continues to work for me.
