THE BRONX DEMOCRATIC COUNTY COMMITTEE ANNOUNCES ITS ENDORSEMENTS IN SEPTEMBER’S PRIMARY ELECTIONS
Today, the Bronx Democratic County Committee announced its endorsements in the upcoming Democratic primary in September. Assemblyman Carl Heastie, Chairman of the Bronx Democratic Party said, “This borough and this organization has come a long way in such a short time, and none of it would have possible without the steadfast leadership of our Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. The leaders of the Bronx enthusiastically expressed their support for Ruben, and we are all looking forward to another 4 strong years of rebuilding and revitalization. We heartily endorse a favorite son, Ruben Diaz Jr. for re-election.” The organization is supporting former Comptroller William Thompson for Mayor, Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer for New York City Comptroller and Councilwoman Letitia James for Public Advocate. “We are more than proud to announce our support for a group of individuals that we know will do an exceptional job for the residents of the Bronx, and the City as a whole. They are proven leaders who have already distinguished themselves in the public sphere”, said Chairman Carl Heastie. Bill Thompson has an exceptional record of service. As a Deputy Borough President, President of the Board of Education and New York City Comptroller, he has led with the skill and vision that befits a Mayor. The City will be in very capable hands under his stewardship. Borough President Scott Stringer, from the time he was appointed as the youngest member of a community board ever, has exemplified the qualities we would want to see in a Comptroller. In the span of his career, he has tackled a myriad of complex issues mirroring the diverse responsibilities of the office of Comptroller. We are also announcing our support for Letitia James, who will continue her passionate service in the role of Public Advocate. We believe the City will be in good hands,” added Heastie. Candidate for Mayor Bill Thompson added, “I'm running for Mayor to move every community in New York City forward - and the support of the Bronx Democratic Committee will help me do just that. Bronx Democrats know I will fight for the progressive values that unite us. I will improve public

schools in every neighborhood across the City. I will add cops to the street and keep our families safe from gun violence. I'll reform Stop and Frisk so that being black or Latino isn’t cause for harassment. And I will work day and night to create the good-paying jobs that lift up our communities. I'm proud to have the support of these Bronx leaders and to work with them to move our city forward.” "I am proud to receive the endorsement of the Bronx Democratic County Committee in my campaign for New York City Comptroller. Under the leadership of Chairman Assembly Member Carl E. Heastie, they have helped usher in a new era of dynamic growth for this borough, and as New York's next Comptroller I will work tirelessly to sustain it. With its rich diversity and vibrant neighborhoods, the Bronx is an inspiring symbol of New York City--and I am honored to receive the endorsement from leaders who have played a central role in making this possible." “I’m proud to earn the support of the Bronx County Democrats. This endorsement sends a powerful message that Democrats are ready for a Public Advocate who will move our city forward, together,” said Councilwoman Tish James. “As a City Councilwoman, I’ve fought for the values we share: better jobs for men and women in every borough, access to quality healthcare and education, and social and economic justice for all. I’ll bring the same values and passion to the Office of the Public Advocate.” The Bronx Democratic Party also announced its endorsements in the following New York City Council Races: District 8: District 11: District 12: District 13: District 14: District 16: District 17: District 18: Melissa Mark Viverito Andrew Cohen Andy King James Vacca Fernando Cabrera Vanessa Gibson Maria del Carmen Arroyo Annabel Palma
