Saturday, August 3, 2013
Where:

8:30 am - 4:30 pm

4211 Grand Ave., Des Moines - Friends Meeting House on the NW corner of 42nd and Grand. Park in lot off 42nd or on Ingersoll Ave.

Teachers: Charlie Day, a retired psychologist, founded the Des Moines Meditation Group in 1994. He has studied spiritual practices for over 45 years in the US, India, and Thailand. He teaches meditation as a psychological and spiritual growth technique and Buddhist philosophy as a way of living compatible with all religions. Charlie teaches classes, guest lectures, and guides individuals in their practices. Fred Nelson, co-teacher with Charlie of the Des Moines Group and the Meditation Group at the Iowa Correctional Institute for Women, will lead a lovingkindness meditation. Retreat: Sponsored by the Des Moines Meditation Group, this retreat is open to new and experienced meditators. It includes instructions for sitting, walking, lovingkindness, and eating meditations, and a talk: " Am I Really Already Enlightened?" Bring a cushion, mat, or meditation bench if you have them. Chairs and a few floor cushions are available. Wear comfortable clothes. Please do not wear scented lotions or perfumes because some persons may be allergic. Lunch is provided.

Donation: Teachers do not charge for leading retreats because they regard Buddha's teachings as priceless. Instead, they gratefully appreciate donations or Dana, the Pali word for gift-giving, as a way for you to express your generosity in supporting the teacher and the continuation of the teachings. Register: In order to know how many lunches to prepare, please leave your name and email with Charlie at charlesday1@mchsi.com, though it is fine to come at the last minute if you don't decide until then. To benefit from all the teachings and the group experience, please plan to attend all full day from 8:30- 4:30. Feel free to share and post this flier,
