224/07 DJ’S ON SERVICE – COMMUNITY SENTENCES CAMPAIGN WINS AWARD

As part of the Community Sentences campaign last year several probation areas were involved in recruiting local
DJs to do unpaid work. Back in the studio the DJs used the experience to highlight the NPS's work with offenders or
to generate a debate with listeners over sentencing. This activity was called DJs on Service and targeted ten
influential local radio stations.

On 24 October DJs on Service won a PR industry PR Week Award in the Public Sector category (beating Norfolk
County Council, the Learning and Skills Council, Westminster City Council and the Department for Education and
Skills). It was also in second place with a “highly commended” for the Broadcast category.
