APPROVED PREMISES Circular
PURPOSE REFERENCE NO:
To provide details of the occupancy levels achieved by approved premises in 37/2004
England and Wales for the financial year 2003/2004, ending 31 March 2004.
ISSUE DATE:
ACTION 18 June 2004
To note the figures, and take any appropriate follow-up action to improve
occupancy levels where appropriate.
IMPLEMENTATION DATE:
Immediate
SUMMARY
The attached national league table shows that 72 approved premises
EXPIRY DATE:
achieved occupancy levels at or above the Service Performance Measure
June 2005
(SPM) target of 90%. We are pleased to be able to announce that the overall
average for the year was 90% exactly. When adjustments are made for
TO:
those premises which experienced approved temporary loss of bedspaces,
the overall average for the year becomes 90.9%. This is testament to the Chairs of Probation Boards
hard work of approved premises staff and management. Chief Officers of Probation
Secretaries of Probation Boards
The table also indicates those areas which have fallen short of the SPM Chairs of Voluntary Management
target figure. It is hoped that work can be undertaken within the relevant Committees
probation board or voluntary management committee to assess why the Approved Premises Managers
target figure is not being achieved and look at appropriate ways of increasing
occupancy, taking into account any circumstances which may have affected CC:
their occupancy level. Board Treasurers
Regional Managers
