Hymns of Praise

Weve Come This Far By Faith

Refrain
Weve come this far by faith, leaning on the Lord; Trusting in His holy word, Hes never failed me yet. Oh cant turn around, Weve come this far by faith.

Alpha And Omega

You are Alpha and Omega We worship You, our Lord, You are worthy to be praised. We give You all the glory, We worship You, our Lord, You are worthy to be praised.

Verse 1
Dont be discouraged when troubles in your life, Hell bear your burdens and move all misery and strive. Thats why weve come this far by faith, leaning on the Lord; Trusting in His holy word, Hes never failed me yet. Oh cant turn around, weve come this far by faith.

Verse 2
Just the other day I heard someone say he didnt believe in Gods word; But I can truly say that God has made a way, and Hes never failed me yet. Thats why weve come this far by faith, leaning on the Lord; Trusting in His holy word, Hes never failed me yet. Oh cant turn around, weve come this far by faith.

HYMNS OF PRAISE

Unison Scripture
1 Peter 5:1-3 (The Message)
1-3

I have a special concern for you church leaders. I know what its like to be a leader, in on Christs sufferings as well as the coming glory. Heres my concern: that you care for Gods flock with all the diligence of a shepherd. Not because you have to, but because you want to please God. Not calculating what you can get out of it, but acting spontaneously. Not bossily telling others what to do, but tenderly showing them the way.

Memorial Day Litany

Minister: For those who have given their lives for their country and whose graves we visit this Memorial Day weekend, that they may rest in God's peace and that their sacrifice may inspire in us who live a commitment to the ideals for which they perished, we pray to the Lord. People: Lord, hear our prayer. Minister: For our veterans, whom we have sent to far countries on our behalf, and who for us have often endured fear, trauma, and sorrow that no human should have to face, that they may receive healing of their hearts and a welcome home from their towns, their families, and their churches, we pray to the Lord. People: Lord, hear our prayer. Minister: For our men and women serving under orders this day, especially those who may be in situations of danger or captivity, that they may be inspired by the ideal of duty, may conduct themselves with honor, may love country second only to God, and may receive strength equal to every challenge they face, we pray to the Lord. People: Lord, hear our prayer. Minister: For families of men and women now on active duty, families of veterans, civilian families who have suffered in time of war, and especially those families whose tables will always have an empty chair, we pray to the Lord. People: Lord, hear our prayer. Minister: For our leaders, who have the power to promote peace and justice or to extinguish life itself from our planet, that any and all decisions relating to the use of armed forces may be preceded by prayer and accompanied by agony, we pray to the Lord. People: Lord, hear our prayer. Minister: For ourselves, our congregation and pastor and all persons of faith, that recognizing the expression in works which must result from an experience of faith, we may be builders of community as well as seekers of salvation, we may seek outer peace as well as inner harmony, and justice for our world as well as fairness for ourselves, to the end that the dwelling of God may be with us, and we shall be God's people, that the former things pass away and war shall be no more, we pray to the Lord. All: Amen. Litany written by Chaplain Jackson H. Day (May, 1997) MEMORIAL DAY LITANY

From The Pastor

Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2My Fathers house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. John 14:1-3 (NIV)

Trinity Family, This past Tuesday, May 21st, Trinity UCC lost a wonderful team member, as Mr. Michael Allen passed away suddenly. A beloved brother, friend, father, and co-laborer, Michael was also the son of our former Executive Minister, the late Rev. Barbara J. Allen, and Trustee, Mr. Samuel Allen. Mike was truly a child of Trinity; he joined our congregation at the age of 9 years and was a member for over 50 years. Brother Michael was a dedicated and well-loved member of our team, and worked in this vineyard for over 13 years, most recently, as our Supervisor of Maintenance, with responsibilities ranging throughout our various properties. As a team, everyone who serves the congregation here at Trinity is called to do so in Love and Excellence. Brother Allen epitomized that! Michaels warm personality and faithful service, and his work ethic of being always ready to help where needed, will be sorely missed by all of usthe Trinity UCC staff, and the entire congregation. His master replied, Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your masters happiness! Matthew 25:23 (NIV) The celebration of Michael's life has been set for Friday, May 31st, with the Family Hour at 10:00 a.m. and the Homegoing service at 11:00 a.m. here at the church. We offer praise and thanksgiving to God for sharing Mike with us. We are blessed to have known such a remarkable man; and we rejoice, knowing that he is now present with God. Please remember to pray for the Allen family and for our Trinity church team. Words of encouragement and prayers can be sent to the Allen family at 9313 S. Peoria St., Chicago, IL 60628. About the Bulletin cover artwork: The artwork featured on the Womens Day bulletin cover, entitled Pink Diva Ribbon, is the work of artist, Janie McGee. For information on Janie McGee, visit www. fineartamerica.com.

About the Bulletin cover artwork: On this Memorial Day weekend, we salute the Tuskegee Airmen, who have played a significant role in U.S. military history. They were denied military leadership roles and skilled training because many believed they lacked qualifications for combat duty. Before 1940, African Americans were barred from flying for the U.S. military. Civil rights organizations and the black press exerted pressure that resulted in the formation of an all African-American pursuit squadron based in Tuskegee, Alabama, in 1941 and they became known as the Tuskegee Airmen. RAISING LEADERS and DEVELOPING DISCIPLES

January Matthew 16:24 (NLT) Then Jesus said to his disciples, If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me." February Luke 4:18-19 (NIV) The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lords favor. March Luke 10:19 (NIV) I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. April Romans 10:1-2 (NLT) Dear brothers and sisters, the longing of my heart and my prayer to God is for the people of Israel to be saved. I know what enthusiasm they have for God, but it is misdirected zeal. May 1 Corinthians 13:8 (NIV) Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. June Romans 5:8 (NIV) But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. July Philippians 4:13 (NLT) For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. August Jeremiah 1-7 (NLT) The Lord replied, Dont say, Im too young, for you must go wherever I send you and say whatever I tell you." September Isaiah 1:3 (NLT) Even an ox knows its owner, and a donkey recognizes its masters carebut Israel doesnt know its master. My people dont recognize my care for them. October Isaiah 40:29 (KJV) He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. November John 17:21 (KJV) That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. December Matthew 1:23 (KJV) Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
