IGCSE Enterprise Group Project

PROJECT IDEA
Bon Appetit will be a school canteen set up, owned and run by Enterprise Students of Grade10.

The student led school canteen will provide the school community with nutritious and affordable food at value pricing and great taste .

WHY THE SCHOOL CANTEEN PROJECT?


The Group Project demands all students to work collaboratively in efficiently running an Enterprise. In the class, we discussed the pros and cons of several business ideas. Finally everyone agreed to the idea of student led canteen.

AIMS OF THE PROJECT


1. Develop understanding of what it means to be enterprising, and the skills that requires. 2. Develop the ability to transfer the skill learnt to the business venture 3. Develop and apply knowledge, understanding and skills to contemporary enterprising issues, in a rage of local contexts 4. Investigate the world of work and entrepreneurial organizations 5. Develop the ability to communicate effectively, in a variety of situations, using a range of appropriate techniques.

PHASE 1 SURVEY AND RESEARCH

SURVEY 1: CURRENT SERVICE PROVIDERS

Currently, there are three service providers in the school. Students, teachers and other staff members buy from these venders. They service is available
during Long Break for Breakfast (9am-10am) and Lunch (1pm to 2pm)

The service providers offer fast foods as well as Indian food

Approximately 500 students and teachers buy food from the canteen during breakfast and lunch time Students from Grade 9 12 usually eat in the canteen. Products available are: Indian Food Paun Bhaji, South Indian, Indian Chaats Fast Food Noodles, Pasta, Sandwiches and other snacks Drinks Juices and Soups

SURVEY 2: STUDENTS AND TEACHERS


A Survey was conducted to find out:

What food items would students and teachers prefer to be included in the school canteen menu? How much are they willing to spend everyday in the canteen?

Location : 3 rd Floor, SNK Main Building Timing : Break Time (9:00am- 9:30am) - 5 days a week. Pricing : All products will be ranged from Rs.10-25

OUR BUSINESS STRUCTURE


Our Canteens business structure will be as per follows: Fully Staf fed by Volunteers. We as well as any other volunteers who would like to join will staf f the canteen. Nobody is going to be paid throughout the process. Anybody from the school who would like to help will be welcomed to.

OUR ADVERTISING AND PROMOTIONAL STRATEGY


All Promotion and Advertising will be done by distributing flyers and posters in the school. Word of Mouth will be another strategy that we will use in the advertising process. We are not planning to use any technology or the use of social networking sites for advertising. We have decided to distribute pocket menu cards to the customers.
