IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Colleen DeFruscio Communications Manager 302-798-6632, extension 747 ARCHMERE CHOIR TO GIVE PERFORMANCE AT CARNEGIE HALL (Claymont, DE) March 7, 2013 On April 14, 2013, Archmere Academys award-winning choir, the

Mastersingers, will take the stage at the famed Carnegie Hall to perform as part of the National Youth Choir. In August the Mastersingers received the invitation to be a part of this massed choir (seven choirs total) that will perform under the direction of Dr. Henry Leck, Chorus Master for the Indianapolis Symphony Chorus and Indianapolis Children's Choir. Of those seven choirs, the Archmere Academy Mastersingers will be the only group to give a solo performance as part of the concert. We all have been working so hard and cant wait for the big day, says Junior Mastersinger Liam Freeh. It will be something none of us will ever forget. In competing for their spot as a featured group in the National Youth Choir, the Mastersingers had to submit an application and past recordings of their best work over the last 3 years. Three adjudicators, who included the Choral Director from the Manhattan School of Music, the Chorus Master of the New York Philharmonic, and the Choral Director from Julliard, listened to these recordings, scoring and evaluating them with the utmost detail. This is one of the highest honors that any musician at any level can receive, let alone a high school choir, says Mr. David Ifkovits, choral director. Being one of only a few high school choirs in the nation that have been honored with a featured performance at Carnegie Hall is an enormous accomplishment for the Mastersingers. The concert is set to begin at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, and will be open to the public. Tickets are available on Carnegie Halls Website, and will also be available at the box office the day of the performance. ---
