Pursuant to Local Rules 79-5 and 7-11, Rambus Inc. (“Rambus”) respectfully requests that

2 the Court permit the filing under seal of the following documents being lodged with the Court: (1) 3 Rambus’s Opposition to STMicroelectronics N.V. and STMicroelectronics, Inc.’s Motion to 4 Strike in Part Rambus’s Amended Infringement Contentions (“Opposition”); and (2) Exhibits 6, 5 10, 12, and 14 to the Declaration of Eric K. Chiu in Support of Rambus Inc.’s Opposition to 6 STMicroelectronics N.V. and STMicroelectronics, Inc.’s Motion to Strike in Part Rambus’s 7 Amended Infringement Contentions (“Chiu Declaration”). 8 Rambus’s Opposition responds to the motion to strike filed on May 13, 2013, by

9 Defendants STMicroelectronics N.V. and STMicroelectronics, Inc. (collectively, “STMicro”). 10 STMicro’s motion to strike was submitted under seal and purportedly contains highly confidential 11 technical and customer information relating to STMicro products. See Dkt. 169. Thus, Rambus’s 12 Opposition in response may also contain highly confidential information relating to STMicro 13 products. Rambus takes no position regarding the confidentiality of the Opposition, but submits 14 the Opposition under seal so that STMicro has an opportunity to establish that the document 15 merits sealing under Local Rule 79-5(d). 16 Exhibits 6, 10, 12, and 14 to the Chiu Declaration were designated “Highly Confidential”

17 and “Highly Confidential Attorneys’ Eyes Only” by STMicro. Rambus takes no position 18 regarding the confidentiality of these documents, but submits them under seal so that STMicro has 19 an opportunity to establish that the documents merit sealing under Local Rule 79-5(d). 20 21 DATED: May 28, 2013 22 23 24 25 26 27 28
