Boldly Going
Many of us grew up watching the original Star Trek TV series with William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy. Though only running for a few years, it became a cult hit and spun off TV series, multiple movies, and now a new generation of Star Trek films. The concept began in the mind of Gene Roddenberry in 1960. Rather than Captain Kirk, his original lead role was to be named Robert April, with the first officer known as Number One. Mr. Spock was to be a red-hued, satanic-looking person. Things changed.

Adult Summer Study

That the World May Know
Summer is almost here! Join us beginning Wednesday, June 5-August 28 at 6:30pm in the Worship Center as we worship God in song, prayer, teaching, and discussion. We will hear the amazing DVD & teaching series by Ray Vander Laan, That the World May Know, and related teaching by our church leaders. Join with your Bible and Life Group at a table, or with other new friends, as we grow in community and our walk with Christ. YOUR WALK - GETTING INTO THE WORD DVD Series: See the Bible come alive with Ray Vander Laan Biblical Teaching: Hear the truth from our Bible teachers Table Discussion: Share with others about the teaching YOUR WALK - GETTING OUTSIDE YOURSELF Receive brief assignments to assist you in being intentional and missional in your lifestyle during the coming week A personal weekly video explanation by our Senior Pastor We will walk with renowned Bible teacher, Ray Vander Laan, as he takes us round trip to ancient times, places, customs, and back again with on-location filming in Israel, Turkey, and other parts of the Bible lands. We will learn how in the desert of our culture, we can prepare the way for the Lord, as the ancient Essenes attempted. We learn from John the Baptist about how to be strong in spirit, and from Christs disciples discover the passion of being like the Rabbi. Lets run the race set before us as we follow in His footprints.

Walking in Gods way as Christs followers so that those in our sphere of influence will know Him as the true God.

Divorce Recovery

Before the first episode, entitled Where No Man Has Gone Before, could be filmed, they first had to deal not with an attack by Klingons, but with wasps which had nested on the set. Shatner did not have a shield but suffered a direct hit on the eyelid. Filming was grounded. In the first year of the series, they were contacted by three research organizations demanding to know how they obtained information on secret devises already under development. Just this past week, a medical scanner similar to that used in Star Trek was featured in USA Today, named Scanadu. Of course, the scientists are still working out the kinks. Discipleship is boldly going where Jesus leads. Our new adult summer series on Wednesdays is That the World May Know. We can walk in Gods way, not exploring new planets, but discovering the will of God from the Biblical context of scripture and communicated through our teachers and the fascinating, on location filming in Israel of Ray Vander Laan. We will learn to boldly get outside of ourselves on a weekly basis through some missional projects. We will join with other Christian explorers each week to discuss and pray together. The Star Trek scanning device was called a medical tricorder, which Dr. McCoy used as he waved it over a sick Starfleet person to determine ailments. Your key spiritual health metrics are read by how much you love the Word of God, desire fellowship with others, grow and learn as a disciple of Christ, and long to be with the people of God in worship. Your vital signs will always point to the need for new growth and understanding. After all, Jesus promised to give us not only eternal life, but also abundant life (John 10:10). I pray that His phaser of conviction will jolt us out of our apathy. May all of us not only live long and prosper but fulfill the desire of John: I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health just as your soul prospers (3 John 2).
