Life Cycle of a Butterfly

In this workshop students will be introduced to the cycle of a butterfly by listening to a the story “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carl. The students will start by making their own caterpillars, cocoons and butterflies during this workshop.

Turtle Moon

In this workshop students will be making their own turtle shell by listening to the Turtle Moon story. They will design their own turtle shells to represent themselves in each of the sections of the shell.

Crazy Caterpillars

Summer Aquarium Adventures with Captain McFinn

In this workshop the students will meet at the Aquarium to explore ocean wildlife and different aspects of the ocean. Children will enjoy a close encounter with many exotic marine wildlife. The workshop will include storytelling, crafts and a special visit from Captain McFinn who will assist them in their treasure hunt activity.

Ocean in a Bottle

Learn how to protect the Earth’s water with Captain District. You will take home a beautiful ocean in a bottle to remind you that we need to take care of our water.

In this workshop the students will assemble a cardboard robot to decorate and reconstruct to create their own robot masterpieces!

In this workshop students will be introduced to the Spanish language and of Hispanic culture through verbal activities, games, and arts and crafts.

Spanish Language Basics II

In this workshop students will continue what they learned during the Spanish Language Basics. Vocabulary drills will be expanded, puzzles will be utilized along with arts and crafts.

In this workshop students will learn about Art and how color represents moods and feelings. Use bright, bold colors and designs to turn a cardboard lizard into a Oaxacan art form.

Making Paper Workshop

AGES 8-12

Learn about recycling by making recycled paper! Students will work with blenders and decals to make pulp, form the paper and press out new sheets. They will add glitter, dried flowers and pencil shavings to the pulp mixture to create an original piece of handmade paper.

In this workshop students will create a funny- looking monster that will bring a smile to your face. Monsters go bump in the night.
Make a Rain Stick

Monster Mania

Make and decorate a tubular instrument that produces the sound of rain from reusable shipping tubes. Learn how the rain stick was and is still used by diverse cultures and participate in an activity that stimulates the sounds of a thunderstorm.

Eat What Bugs You

In this workshop the students will create a threedimensional frog that will eat whatever you feed it. Feed it everyday... it will keep the bugs away!

In this workshop the students will be able to create their art work by using puzzle pieces they will design themselves. The students will create an interesting configuration by looking beyond the puzzle.

The Art Outreach Gallery’s 2013 Summer Workshops begin Monday morning, June 24 through Friday, July 12. The Gallery will host a three-week series of expressive workshops designed to enthuse and educate preschool through 12th grade students in the visual and language arts. These happy, healthy youth workshops are created by area art educators and college students. Some workshops take place at the Art Outreach Gallery and other workshops take place at the Eastwood Mall Aquarium located in center court. Check out all workshop details inside this Summer Workshop program. Some classes are limited so be sure to register early! To register, submit your signed and completed registration form to the Art Outreach Gallery or to the Eastwood Mall customer service center. You may also fax the registration form to (330)544-5929.
