Nancy Slaby, Account Representative for Assisted Living, Home Care and Hospice started her new position earlier last month. Many of you had the opportunity to meet Nancy at the Welcome Reception. Nancy is very excited to have the opportunity to work at Watkins and looks forward to getting to know everyone.

You can still order an assisted living cookbook for only $3.00. They make great gifts! Contact Julie Decker at 507.494.7488 to place your order. To give you a sample of the great recipes included in the cookbook here is a Garden Salad recipe submitted by Eleanor of Watkins Manor. 2 sm. Boxes ring macaroni 4 diced cucumbers 3-4 tomatoes diced 1 onion diced 2 stalks celery diced 1/2 green pepper diced 2 1/2 c. miracle whip 4 T. white vinegar 4 T. sugar Add the diced cucumbers, tomatoes, onion, celery, and green pepper in a bowl. Sprinkle with 1 T. salt. This will form it’s own juice, do not drain. Cook the macaroni and add to the vegetables. In a separate bowl mix the miracle whip, vinegar, and sugar together. Add the sauce to the vegetables and the macaroni. Chill.

It is season that we decorate our rooms and hang wreaths on our doors. There are some decorating guidelines that have been set forth by Winona Health to ensure the safety of everyone and abide by our fire code regulations. The use of natural (or once-alive) trees and decorations is prohibited inside the Manors. The use of artificial trees, garland and decorations is allowed. The use of candles or any open flame is strictly prohibited. Decorations must NOT be placed in any locations that may: A. block fire exit corridors, doorways and passageways B. obstruct or attach to fire sprinklers C. obstruct or attach to smoke or heat detectors Thank you for your understanding and cooperation! ~Building & Grounds
