October 3rd, 2010

Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that you believe on him whom he hath sent. John 6:29

Ergon - [E'r-gon]
A heavenly thing done on Earth; the noblest, most perfect work Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: show me thy faith without thy Ergon, and I will show thee my faith by my Ergon . . . But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without Ergon is dead? . . . For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without Ergon is dead also. James 2:18,20,26

The Believers Work

To Prove He is All in All Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that you believe on him whom he hath sent. John 6:29

To Believe - the art of Christian doing

1. Knowing 2. Reckoning 3. Presenting 4. Exerting 5. Obeying

The Knowing
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? . . . Knowing this, that our old man is crucied with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that

henceforth we should not serve sin . . . Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him . . . Know ye not, that to whom you yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom you obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? Romans 6:3,6,9,16

The Reckoning
. . . Reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:11

The Presenting
Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace . . . I speak after the manner of men because of the inrmity of your esh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness. Romans 6:12-14,19

The Exerting
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Romans 6:12 To Let Not to exert and exercise the highest inuence; to control a matter with decisive dominance

The Obeying
But God be thanked, that you were the servants of sin, but you have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, you became the servants of righteousness. Romans 6:17-18

The only Ergon that Matters - a love-laboring faith

For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. Galatians 5:6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith operated, empowered, and energized by love. Galatians 5:6

Faith - the fuel for all true Ergon

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. - Hebrews 11:6 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) - Hebrews 10:23

The Gospel of the Grace of God

But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might nish my course with joy, and the

ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God. Act 20:24 KJV

His Workmanship, His Work

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10
