T2000 Configuration Procedure (SDH)

START T2000 Make sure the database (SYBASE or SQL Server) is running; only then start the T2000 Server followed by the T2000 Client. To login into the T200 Server, from the Client (super-user account): Name : admin Password : T2000 Server : IP address of T2000 Server : 9801 *The default IP port is 9801 and should not be changed. 1. Create NE
In Main Menu, Topology Create Topology Object Alternatively, right click Main Topo network window, Create Topology Object *Input relevant parameters

Do not change the extended ID, The NE user is :root, password is : password. Pre-configuration: use the software to simulate the equipment.

The figure below shows the network window view of the newly created NE icon.

2. Configure NE
Double click on the newly created NE icon (or right click on the icon and choose Configure Wizard). Follow the on-screen guide (see figure below)

three options: manual configuration: set the new configuration data manually. (the old data in the NE will lost) copy NE data: copy the configuration data from other NE. (the old data in the NE will lost) upload: upload the old data in the NE to the NMS.

When configure the NE, the window below will show.

Query logical slot: query the card configuration data from SCC card. Query physical slot: query the card configuration data from every physical slots. If us the pre-configuration, then move the mouse to the slots, and right click to choose the card.

Finally, choose verify and run the new configuration data will be send to the NE.

3. Create Fiber In Main menu, Topology Fiber & Cable Management

Create the new fiber/cable connection and click the blank to choose the NE, port correctly.

After create the all the connection, click apply in the window.

Alternatively, right click Main Topo network window, Create Topology Object

*Both ways will yield the same final result of creating fiber connection 4. Create Network Protection In Main Menu, View Protection View Then, Protection Create (type of SDH protection)

4.1 Create the 2f_MS SPRing (2f bi-directional MSP ring) After choose the 2f-MS SPRing from the above window, then: Select the NEs which on the ring by double click the NE icons followed by their sequence on the ring.

If succeed, the new protection network will be show in the below window.

4.2 Create the Ring consist of the SNCP node. Choose the NP-Ring from the below window,

Select the NEs which on the ring by double click the NE icons followed by their sequence on the ring.

After succeed to create the NP-Ring, then move the mouse to all of the nodes on the ring one by one, and right click, choose the correct protection network to create the SNCP node.

5. Payload / Cross-connect Configuration There are two ways to establish the payloads. Firstly, in Main Menu: Configuration SDH Configuration SDH Service Configuration *Create the cross-connection

The second way is via Trail Management (View Trail View). This is T2000s Circuit Management System (CMS) and need the license. In Main Menu, View Trail View Then Trail Fast Create *Create the end-to-end trail

6. SDH Clock Synchronisation In Main Menu, View Clock View Clock NE Clock Setting Clock Source Priority Table

From the new window, select the relevant NE and configure the synchronisation source priority table.

7. EOW Setting In Main Menu, Configuration SDH Configuration SDH Overhead Interface

On the next window, select the relevant NE and set the required EOW phone numbers.

8. NE Time Synchronisation In Main Menu, Configuration Common Configurations NE Time Synchronisation *We need to align the NEs so that they follow theT2000 server time (the server time will follow the time of the OS) . This is important for performance collection and management.

9. Performance Monitoring Setting In Main Menu, Performance Performance Setting Set Performance Monitor Start/Stop Status

A new window pops up. Select the NEs required and simply open the 15-minute (high quality) or 24-hour (low quality) performance monitoring. The start time should later than the NE current time.

10. Database Backup This can be divided into NMS backup or NE backup. For NE backup, simply backup the flash memory FDB0&FDB1. In Main Menu, Configuration Configuration Data Management Backup NE Database

In the new window, simply select the NE that is relevant and back up the flash banks (FDB0 and FDB1)

For NM (i.e. T2000) backup, in Main Menu, Configuration Configuration Data Management Script File Import & Export From here, just import saved T2000 configuration scripts. Or export the current T2000 configuration script as a backup.

T2000 Maintenance operations (SDH)

Alarms and the performance event 1) Query alarms daily and analyze all the alarms. Main menualarmalarm browse

Query: view the new alarms in the current window Confirm: Acknowledge the end alarms and transfer them into history alarms Check: directly check the existing alarm with the corresponding board When analysis the alarms, pay attention to the alarm name, detail, position, time, possible cause, etc. 2) Query the history alarms In the alarm browse window, change alarm status from current alarm to history alarm.

3) Change the alarm level (severity), suppressing unwanted alarms,

4) suppressing unwanted alarms,

5) query and analysis the performance data, esp. BBE, ES, SES, UAS, AUPJLOW, AUPJHIGH, TUPPJC, and TUNPJC.

the meaning of the common performance event:

BBE FEBBE ES SES FEES AUPJCHIGH AUPJCLOW UAS MS HP RS LP Background Block Error Far end Background Block Error Error Second Severely Error Second Far End Error Second AU Pointer High Justification Counts AU Pointer Low Justification Counts Unavailable Second Multiplex section High-order Path Regeneration section Low-order Path

NM and NE User 6) Lock the T2000 system.

7) .Change the password of the current user

Note: if you change the password of admin, please remember the new password

8) Add new T2000 NM user and define the priority of them.

In the above window, right click to add the new T2000 user.

In the above window, add the new T2000 user into the some user group to give the different right to different user. If you dont want the 4 default group, you can move you mouse on the User group option in the left window and right click to add a new group you want. 9) Create NE user and login NE with different username

Note: when several user want to login the same NE at the same time through different T2000, they need to login with different NE user name to avoid the conflict.

Report and Database 10) Querying and saving the log files .(the log files record the operations have been done on T2000 system or the NE, it can be saved as text file)

11) Try the report function to generate different report.

12) Dump the NE performance & alarm data These data record the alarms or the performance of the NE, can be dumped automatically or manually.

13) Configuration Data Upload/ Download and Check Data Configuration Consistency

In the above window, choose the NE you want, then right click to choose the operations.

Protection 14) The ALS function enable/disable.

15) Protection Switching status Check (MSP): In the protection view: Protectionprotection subnet manager, than, move the mouse on the corresponding protection subnet, and right click to choose the attribute.

16) XCS 1+1 protection. (if applicable)

17) TPS protection a. Check the status of the board (active or standby). b. Manually switch operations.

In the above window, right click to add the TPS group. DCN 18) ECC route check. From the main menu view DCN view

19) Configure GNE backup. From main menu view DCN view then configure the GNE backup.

NE State 20) Browse NE status.(running is normal, installing and unknown is abnormal). Checking NE and Board States.

21) Check the board software version.

22) set the PDH, SDH board parameters.

23) Loopback (Tributary and Optical loopback)

24) Reset Board

Note: the software reset will not affect the service but the hardware reset will.

25) Checking Equipment Environment Parameters (change the temperature threshold, external alarm)
