& Senior Parents: Second semester is finally here, and graduation is fast approaching! Congratulations, you’ve almost made it! There are several things that you need to be aware of prior to that big day. Cap & Gown orders have been handled through the student’s advisory class. Students should have already filled out the order form. If a graduating senior was absent during advisory and did not fill out the order form, have the student stop by room 323D to talk to Mrs. Jacobs. Caps are one size fits all, and gowns are ordered by height. If parents have any questions, please feel free to email or call Mrs. Jacobs (see below for numbers). We are still collecting Senior Fees! This one-time fee covers everything related to graduation day (including cap & gown, programs, the ceremony, etc). The current fee is $65; it will go up to $70 on March 1. This increasing scale encourages early payment so we can pay necessary deposits and expenses as we incur them in preparation for graduation. Checks must be made out to QOHS. Please include the student’s name and ID number on the check. Turn in the money to Mrs. Jacobs in Room 323D, or checks may be mailed to school. Please do not leave money in the school mailbox. Students who have not submitted a senior fee by Tuesday, April 30, 2013 will receive an obligation notice. Obligation notices must be cleared with Mrs. Yee in the financial office. ALL obligations must be cleared before graduation rehearsal. No checks from seniors or their families will be accepted after 4/30/13. After that date, only cash and money orders will be accepted. Students must have 75 documented Student Service Learning hours to graduate. These hours are due by April 19th. Any senior eligible for the Superintendent’s Certificate of Meritorious Service (260 hours) must have all documentation complete to receive acknowledgement of that award by April 5th. Important Dates: 4/16/13 Senior Parent Meeting; students are welcome to attend, but are not required to attend. This will be about all things graduation. The meeting will begin at 7 pm in the auditorium. 4/17/13 Senior Banquet Information will be coming soon! 4/26/13 Last day checks will be accepted from seniors and their families. Cash and money orders will be accepted after this time. 5/24/13 Prom will be at the Bethesda-Hyatt. 6/3/13 Graduation Rehearsal – ALL GRADUATES MUST ATTEND REHEARSAL IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN THE GRADUATION CEREMONY. This rehearsal begins with a senior breakfast in the front of school at 7:00 a.m., and will last all morning. Do not plan for any other event for this important morning. Dismissal from rehearsal usually occurs at approximately 11:30 AM. It is at this event seniors will learn the procedures for the ceremony and other important information about the ceremony, receive their tickets for guests to attend graduation, and any final important business. Tickets will NOT be distributed before rehearsal, nor will they be distributed to students who do not attend rehearsal. (More information on tickets, including how many will be allocated to each family, will be announced in April.) 6/4/13 Graduation at DAR Constitution Hall at 10 am –Seniors must be at DAR to line up no later than 9:15 am.
