THE ORGANISER
Junior Chamber International Malaysia The Junior Chamber movement was introduced to Malaysia (then the Federation of Malaysia) in 1954. Junior Chamber in Sarawak and Junior Chamber in Sabah were affiliated to Junior Chamber International in 1956 and in 1963 respectively. Junior Chamber Peninsular Malaysia, Junior Chamber Sarawak and Junior Chamber Sabah were then identified as three different National Organizations (NOMs) directly affiliated to Junior Chamber International. On 11th October 1975, Junior Chamber Malaysia was formed with the signing of a Merge Agreement between the three separate national organizations in Kuala Lumpur. A Protem Board of Directors under the chairmanship of JCI Senator V T Nathan, Past President of Kuala Lumpur Junior Chamber was founded. This Protem Board was appointed to look into the registration of the new organization to be known as Junior Chamber Malaysia. In 1976 Junior Chamber Malaysia obtained temporary registration from the Registrar of Societies to operate. The 1st National Convention was held in 1976 itself in Kuala Lumpur. At this National Convention, JCI Senator George Chang was elected the First National President. Some of the very famous JCI Alumni are Kofi Annan (UN Sec. Gen) , Prince Albert of Manaco, Dr. Lim Chong Eu (Former Chief Minister of Penang), Gerald R. Ford (38 th President of US), William J. “Bill” Clinton (42nd President of US), Keizo Obuchi (Former Prime Minister of Japan), and many more.

THE HOSTING CHAPTER
Junior Chamber International Petaling Jaya JCI Petaling Jaya, established in year 1980, was initiated by the late Dato’ Patrick Wong (Past President of JCI Ipoh) and JCI Senator D.J. Lourdes (Past President from JCI Bukit Mertajam) together with a group of young people who were interested in the Junior Chamber International movement. JCI Senator Felix Gong was then appointed as the Chairman of the Protem Committee to head the formal registration of JCI PJ and the setting up of the Chapter. After a year of hard work of the late Dato’ Patrick Wong, JCI Senator D.J. Lourdes, JCI Senator Felix Gong and the Protem Committee, JCI PJ was successfully registered with Registrar of Societies on 21 April 1981. And in the same year, Annual General Meeting was held on June 7 during which JCI Senator Felix Gong was elected as the JCI PJ Charter President for 1981 & 1982. On 3 November 1989, JCI PJ signed Sisterhood Pact with JCI Higashiiruma of Japan forming our first sister chapter relationship and in 1994 we signed another Sisterhood Pact with JCI Taoyuan of Taiwan at JCI World Congress in Kobe, Japan. Since the forming of sisterhood with JCI Higashiiruma and JCI Taoyuan, the 3 chapters’ members have visited each other almost every year and have organized many activities and gatherings for its members to fellowship and learn from each other. In year 2000, with the support and donation from our Past Presidents and members, JC Clement Ong the President then lead JCI Petaling Jaya to achieve an important milestone by acquiring a secretariat office located in Sunway Mas, Petaling Jaya. This physical building now becomes our resource center and is utilized to host programs and meetings for members and the community. Since its inception, JCI PJ has produced many outstanding leaders and entrepreneurs. Because of the strong foundation that our predecessors have laid and the many achievements that we have gained, JCI PJ is regarded as one of the most outstanding chapters in Malaysia, having been established for 33 years. Our founder, the late Dato’ Patrick Wong, a man of wisdom, principle and courage is well-respected by not only members of JCI Petaling Jaya, but also all who knows him personally. His courage to initiate change and to share, his perseverance and undaunted persistency is way beyond any layman can do. Just like our founder, each JCI Petaling Jaya member shares the belief that in order to create lasting Positive Change, we must have the Courage to learn & try new approaches, undertake different challenges, go beyond our capabilities, stand up to

ethical principles, face various obstacles, accept criticism and improve ourselves including the world around us. JCI Petaling Jaya has always initiate business visits to local corporations, to create opportunities for members to learn and seek guidance from successful entrepreneurs. This has always been one of our usual learning approaches. However, starting year 2010 and under the leadership of JCI Petaling Jaya 2010 President, JC Kenneth Fong; to commemorate our late founder and to learn his way of success, we decided to officially incorporate the principle of COURAGE as the way of JCI Petaling Jaya. Courage is the ability to face difficulty, danger, uncertainty, or pain without being conquered by fear. Courage is about setting aside your fear and taking action for the good of yourself or someone else. Courage is a way of life. It’s a matter of routine more than anything else. With courage in our members, there will be greater willingness to achieve improvements. Therefore, other than hosting JCI CYEA, we took a step further by incorporating new activities to this year plan, placing top priority with regards to the network expansion and learning needs of our young members. Enabling our projects to benefit the world is our prime objective. We also aim to be the leading chapter of JCI Malaysia through the inception of COURAGE as a way of JCI Petaling Jaya.
