• The miseenscene is very important as it reflects the mood and can give hints towards the storyline or give subtle intertextual references to other films of that genre. • In our first shot of the protagonist, we decided on a continuous tilt shot down the stairs to connote that his tracker is watching him. It also makes him look small and weak, helping to give anchorage to the idea of being watched and chased. We purposefully used somewhere with little or nothing on the walls as this reflects his mind state at the time. • For the end of this scene, we felt a POV shot would be good because the audience can connect with Loomis and see what he sees and feels. The heavy breathing is a good way to aid this. The blur on the camera was another good way because the blur is true to life and happens when you run for so long you begin to blur and then pass out. To create a decent match on action shot we had to cut the video down as the second half was
filmed at a different stage to the initial clip.
• Because the first shot in the sports hall was zoomed right into Loomis, we wanted some way of showing the setting while keeping this, hence the zoom out. We initially wanted a wobble on the shot but any wobble we did get was too much and looked amateurish. We eventually came up with the idea of using a skateboard to pull the cameraman back on while he filmed. This was the nearest thing to a tracking camera we could get without paying ridiculous sums of money. Even though there was a lack of tracks, the floor was buffed out and smooth, which helped a lot. We also figured a good way to create tension in the scene was to start with a blunt noise to make the audience nervous and make sure they know something has happened. The way Loomis is stood within the football lines on the wall is also on purpose. This line around him and the fact its white connotes protection and maybe a higher force. • As the girl is a direct intertextual reference to The Ring, we wanted as little chance as possible to see her face. We also wanted her to be noticeable yet far away so it had an air of mystery about it. We also made a conscious effort to keep her in the centre of the room when she wasn't moving to signify she was the centre
of attention and a major part of the film. The earthquake effect gave it a paranormal feel. • When we shot reverse shot back to Loomis we used fast paced editing to connect with the target audience. We also used a dutch angle to connote something isn't right within the scene. • As the moving girl scene was a main part of our film we spent a lot of time making sure it was right and refilmed it with white balance and in other positions to make sure. We originally filmed at least 34 seconds for each movement but cut them down to add suspense. The final movement is slightly longer and has a loud blunt sound similar to that at the beginning of the scene for emphasis. • We then used the 180degree rule to show the audience the girl and the effect it has on Loomis. We also wanted the chain behind Loomis to rattle when he falls back on it, however we couldn't record the correct sound loud enough. • Joe also created us a logo on 'Logo Creator' SWJ Productions. It consists of the letters in a blue tint which signifies the horror genre, Although serif would of been a more obvious choice of font, we didn't necessarily want to make ourselves such a niche genre company and so left it open. The titles were in the same blue tint, but a serif font was used, to show this product is of the
horror genre. The titles, merged with the heartbeat helps create tension and hopefully subconsciously raise the audiences heart rate.
