Press Release
Tuesday, 28 April 2009 for immediate release Subject: Leisure hovercraft - the future of boating? I love boats, don’t get me wrong, but you have to admit, there are times when they can be a tiny bit limited. Take for example low-tide – all that mud and no where to go, have you ever imagined a boat that could just hover down the river at low tide? Boats struggle against strong currents and tidal streams, leisure hovercraft just skim over that sort of thing. Boats have to watch the depth of water, and forever look out for submerged rocks and coral, leisure hovercraft have no propellers to snag on items, they hover 8 inches above the surface. Imagine setting way points and taking a direct route, no need to check charts and echo sounders, just cross the mud and go for it. Boats are restricted by icy lakes, hovercraft skim over the surface; no restrictions reaching your winter home with a hovercraft, you can even stop off and do a little ice fishing. Some boats need trailer recovery, so one of your passengers has to get the trailer unhitched and into the wet stuff if the slipway restricts the towing vehicle reaching your boat – leisure hovercraft just drive up the slipway. All I want for Christmas is my own personal leisure hovercraft. These vehicles are the ultimate all terrain craft, and allow you to fly at speeds up to 45 mph over any flat surface. One minute you can be flying down the river at a cruising height of 9 inches, and then by a flick of the wrist, be scooting up the river-bank, or over the mud, or up the beach to fetch an ice cream. Hov Pod Hovercraft seat three adults and allow access to beach 24/7 – they traverse above small rocks and submerged coral and other obstacles in their path, and skim over tidal streams, mud, sandbars etc. When the water runs out, just drive up the beach or slipway in style, these craft are true all-terrain vehicles. and artificial joints. HDPE is very light, very strong and impact resistant, and extremely buoyant so makes an ideal material for hovercraft construction. Hov Pod hovercraft fly 8 inches above the ground, indeed any flat surface at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour. People get a real buzz driving at that speed particularly on land to water transitions – you expect a bump but feel so comfortable. Upon returning to land, you hear your passengers gasp as they expect you to slow up at the water’s edge – but Hov Pods just keep on flying. As you have no wheels or brakes for that matter, floating on a cushion of air enables a completely different yet extremely comfortable ride. For example, a quick flick of the steering handles, and you can effect a 180 turn, or 360/720 spin – almost as if you were driving some antigravitational futuristic craft, back from the future. These versatile craft handle water, sand, mud, ice, snow, any flat surface; driver and passengers get literally ........... blown away. Hov Pods are designed for marine leisure, so there are many safety features included as standard. The sheer versatility of the craft make them ideal for all manner of applications, such as tenders, rescue craft, allowing exploration to places other craft and people cannot reach, such as winter ice-bound island homes, shallow rivers, or deserted islands surrounded by coral-reefs. With no propeller to disturb marine life, they are also eco-friendly – you can fly over eggs without breaking any, and when hovering, they weigh less than a seagull standing on one leg.
