IBM’s INNOVATIVE CURRICULUM

IBMT emphasizes its dedication to achieving excellence in its program and in the
development of the talents and skills of its students and faculty. IBMT’s dedication
to excellence is demonstrated through its commitment to continually improve its
curriculum, which is similar to that of major US and Australian universities.

IBMT divides its curriculum into two major programs: the University Core
Curriculum, which is commonly called the General Education Program (or
Baccalaureate Core Program) and the Bachelor’s Degree Core Requirements (or
the Major Discipline Study Program).

While the Major Study Discipline program provides students with knowledge of the
specific fields they have chosen, the General Education program benefits the
students by exploring a wide range of courses and content designed help students
respond and adapt quickly to new demands, challenges and opportunities they will
face in the course of their careers.

SCHOOL OF BUSINESS

THE UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM

The main objective of IBMT School of Business is to prepare students for

leadership positions in the business world or in other organizational environments.
Toward this end, the school first provides the students with a strong foundation in
general education, which refines their learning skills, it is followed by providing
them with a solid background in business knowledge, skills and experience.

CURRICULUM OVERVIEW

The innovative curriculum of IBMT School of Business is based on our unique

integration of the national core curriculum, which is mandatory for all business
schools in Indonesia and the core curriculum and methodologies of outstanding
universities in the US and Australia. To meet IBMT requirements, this national core
curriculum has been enriched with additional courses in both the general
educational area and the professional areas so students can easily transfer if
desired to US universities to complete their education. The number of semester-
credits or semester–hours required for an undergraduate degree in Indonesia is
145-160.

1. General Education Core of Courses (45-59 semester credits)

2. Business and Economic Core Courses (56-66 semester credits)

23 | P a g e
3. Major Courses (33-39 semester credits)

4. Elective Courses (3-9 semester credits)

The General Education Core courses and the Business and Economic Core
Courses are common to all majors offered by the School of Business and their
completion is prerequisite for graduation in any major.

It is suggested that students planning to transfer to American or Australian

universities complete 42 hours of general education courses and 24 hours of lower
division business and economic core courses.

Major Course requirements differ from one area to the other. Please refer to the
respective major for exact number of hours required by that major.

The Elective Courses are provided to bring the total semester credits to 145-160.
Students may take any of the 300 and 400 level courses offered by the School of
Business provided they have met the prerequisite and they have accumulated
sufficient units. It is the students’ responsibility to ensure that they meet the 145-
160 hour requirements for graduation.
