Natural gas futures for August on the NYMEX dropped $ 0.01 Tuesday to settle at $ 6.754 NYMEX Last Change
per MMBtu prior to the 4th of July holiday and as mild weather continued to persist. The

average. For this week, look for an injection of 80 to 90 Bcf. For this week, major

Natural gas futures dropped $ 0.174 for August on Friday settling at $ 6.444 per MMBtu NYMEX Last Change

Natural gas futures for August delivery on the NYMEX dropped $0.286 per MMBtu lower NYMEX Last Change

Natural gas futures for September slipped $ 0.026 yesterday to settle at $ 6.794 per NYMEX Last Change

Natural gas futures for September on the NYMEX ended $ 0.135 higher Friday to settle at $ NYMEX Last Change
7.01 per MMBtu, as Hurricane Dean strengthened while moving toward the Gulf of Mexico.

Natural gas prices have risen 18% since closing at $5.949 per MMBtu on July 24th. Prices
rose to a record in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina decimated platforms, pipelines and 03 Month Strip 7.320 +0.109
refineries on the Mississippi and Louisiana coasts. Royal Dutch Shell shut 2 wells in the 06 Month Strip 7.970 +0.030
Gulf of Mexico and evacuated more personnel from platforms which may be in the track of 12 Month Strip 8.037 +0.023
Hurricane Dean. The sub-sea wells, which are linked to the Brutus platform, pumped 2,000
barrels of crude and 2 MMcf per day of natural gas. Shell had already shut about 5 MMcf 18 Month Strip 8.315 +0.014
per from the North Padre Island 975 field, 75 miles southeast of Corpus Christi, Texas,
before Tropical Storm Erin entered the Gulf last week. The natural gas market opened up

$ 6.310 and minor at $ 6.800. Remember, we are in hurricane season. Prices are going to
fluctuate a great deal on a daily and weekly basis dependent upon weather activity. That
being said, we cannot always panic. We have to be patient until these levels are breached EIA GAS STORAGE
and no longer attainable or the weather clears out and prices succumb to a range where Region Bcf Change
they should be.

NOAA HURRICANE SEASON OUTLOOK


The NOAA (National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration) scientists are predicting an 85% chance of
an above-normal season, with the likelihood of 13 to 16 named storms, with 7 to 9 becoming

hurricanes, of which 3 to 5 could become major hurricanes with a strength of 3 or higher.
So far this season, there have been 4 Atlantic named storms (Andrea, Barry, Chantal and Dean), which ERCOT Ave Change
