Slide Text: Welcome to the Flipped Classroom Seminar Before we begin do the following steps: 1. Log into the laptop at a station 2. Open a browser to this google-drive address: <to be filled in later> 3. Complete the entrance ticket Navigation: This is the introductory slide for the presentation, the steps allow the instructor to visually notice which participants can follow directions without guidance and which might need aid in completing the simple task of logging into the computer and going to a website. Also allows the trainer to troubleshoot any technology problems right at the start of the seminar. The entrance ticket will be designed around level of comfort with technology. Once it has been established that ALL participants have successfully logged in and gone to the website, click to move to the next slide. Slide Text: Why Flip? - Middle-school Math students improved 12.67 points on their state assessments(1) - University physics students had a 33% better average than their counterparts in the same course who used traditional settings.(2) - International students showed vocabulary increases across the board at a school in Dubai.(3) Navigation: Allow for questions regarding the research be prepared to discuss blooms digital taxonomy. Goal #1 Create, Edit & Upload video to YouTube Khan academy example of a lesson Assessment: Create a Khan Academy account Find a Khan Academy video that meets your Flipped Classroom needs (10 minutes)

Navigation: The instructors role is vital to the understanding of the concepts behind the Khan Academys role in education. Guide the teachers into setting up a classroom and discuss how to show progress on the students part by using the Practice this Topic interaction. Navigation: Ensure that ALL laptops have Screencast-o-matic installed. Move around the room and help any teachers who might be struggling with the concept of creating such a simple video. When in doubt, keep it SIMPLE! Shorter does not mean its not good. Goal #1 Create, Edit & Upload video to YouTube Edit using Windows Movie Maker Assessment: editing of short video Create YouTube account Upload video Assessment: person next to you can find your video on YouTube Navigation: Because this is probably something very new to the teachers, special care must be taken to ensure that each participant understands HOW to use Microsoft Movie Maker. The participants should all be technology versed and should have a basic understanding, however be prepared to help any stragglers, the instructor must be proactive in case students fall too far behind. Goal #2 Create supplemental materials Quick assessment of video (entrance ticket) Pose a question or introduce an activity Students gather materials and work in small groups or individually Students lacking the necessary understanding are re-taught the subject matter Teacher becomes a coach and a guide Students gather for discussion about class-topic and how it relates to video Quick assessment of classwork (exit ticket)

Navigation: As with the previous section, the instructors role should be one of coach and facilitator. Learning should be done in groups and individually with any questions being raised to the instructor. If a participant has never done project-based learning, their understanding of the concepts will need help and should be answered as quickly as possible. References / Notes: Handout: At the end of the lesson when groups are done, hand-out what you would do for a lesson on 2+2 including: breaking the numbers down into digits of 1 and take into consideration 4+0, 0+4, 3+1, and.1+3.
