Post-Game Quotes
ATHLETICS MANAGER BOB MELVIN: What is going on with the bullpen on this road trip? You go through some stretches and its been a little bit of everybody here. When we have a 5-2 lead like that, its pretty much in the bank. Just didnt happen tonight. What did you see on Blevins approach to Ibanez? He doesnt want to keep the curveball in the middle of the plate, he wants to get to the other side and it just didnt get there. He hasnt made too many bad pitches this year in situations like that; that one just stayed in the middle. What was going on with Straily? He just didnt have a good release point today. He was teetering from the beginning: it was what, 6 hits and 3 walks in just over 3 [innings]. He just had a rough start. Chavez really came in and did a great job for us to keep us right there and then Blev comes in for the last out, and then we score the runs and it looks like were in pretty good position. Again, sometimes it just doesnt work out. What about the night Lowrie had? Hes swinging the bat really good right now. Weve seen him when he gets hot, its left-handed, right-handed, doesnt make any difference. Hes seeing the ball really well, getting some good swings, pulling some balls, and hitting some the other way. Real good night.
