Peace
to
you, It
is
high
summer
 and
the
living
is
easy…or
so
 they
say.

Life
 is
 always
good,
 but
 is
 it
 easy?

I
 don’t
think
 so;

 I
think
life
takes
work.

Work
is
not
always
bad,
 in
fact,
I
like
work.

I
like
my
work
as
a
pastor,
and
the
work
of
 a
mother
and
grand‐mother
is
fun
much
of
the
time,
and
I
love
being
a
wife
to
a
great
husband.

Now
the
work
 of
being
a
disciple
of
Christ
is
hard
work,
 and
yet,
it
is
truly
privileged
work.

Being
a
disciple
of
Christ
takes
 my
whole
being,
there
are
no
days
off
or
vacation,
or
easy
living
days.

I
am
always
a
child
of
God
and
saved
by
 Jesus
the
Christ,
and
I
want
my
life
to
reflect
that
by
the
choices
I
make
and
the
words
I
speak,
the
actions
that
 guide
my
life.

There
are
times
that
it
isn’t
easy,
summertime
or
not,
it
requires
my
best
effort.
 I
was
 always
able
to
talk
 back
to
my
 earthly
 parents
when
things
 were
confusing,
 or
I
 was
angry.

Yes,
there
 were
some
consequences
also,
 but
I
did
 get
my
 say.

As
a
child
of
God,
 I
find
it
difficult
 to
 talk
back,
 I
mean
 really,
 what
 would
 the
 consequences
 be
 if
 God
 gets
 mad!

While
 I
 am
 sure
 of
 my
 salvation,
 I
 don’t
 always
 understand
what
I
was
saved
from,
or
saved
for.

What
am
I
really
supposed
to
be
doing?

This
work
of
mine
is
 not
easy. The
stories
of
Elijah
are
stories
for
me,
 also.

Although
I
have
never
fought
or
killed
prophets
of
another
God
 and
I
don’t
know
what
a
broom
tree
really
looks
like,
I
have
sat
down
and
felt
like
giving
up.

I
have
felt
chased
 by
more
than
a
few
Jezebels
and
I
have
seen
those
who
think
they
are
king
and
in
reality
are
just
spoiled
brats.

 Sometimes,
I
just
sit
under
a
tree
and
want
to
give
up.

 And
like
Elijah,
I
wait.

Eventually,
the
word
of
the
Lord
comes.

It
says
get
on
your
way,
through
the
wilderness
 and
to
life.

It
is
then
that
I
am
reminded
that
I
am
saved
from
death,
and
self‐defeating
thoughts,
and
saved
for
 life,
life
with
God
and
life
for
God.

May
our
lives
be
filled
with
a
double
portion
of
Elijah’s
spirit
and
know
that
we
are
God’s
and
we
live
to
bring
 others
to
God.

May
your
summer
be
blessed. Pastor
Emily

On Friday evening, July 19th, our church will have the opportunity to extend the hand of friendship and show that we are a welcoming congregation by providing a safe haven to the Mission Team from Christ the King Lutheran church of Hutchinson, MN. Every summer, a group of their youth go to another part of the country to do mission work. Last year, they went to Brooklyn NY...this year, they are headed to Arizona to work on a Navajo Reservation. There will be 50 members on their team and they will be stopping in Belleville and staying at FUMC for a night’s rest. Steve Olcott, Team Leader, has expressed their appreciation to us for sharing our space with their group. Our local Mission Team will be hosting their stay.

Our Church over the past several years has made the commitment of paying 100% of our Conference Apportionments. Last year, the Conference reported that ALL Methodist Churches in Republic County and Cloud County met their Apportionments 100%. We are on track to pay 100% of our 2013 apportionments! It will take all of us to achieve this commitment for 2013 as the last six months of the year fly by. Jay Kallman, FUMC Treasurer I am grateful that Jay, as our Treasurer, keeps the Conference Apportionments in front of us. He pays them throughout the year so we do not end up with amounts that are impossible to work with at the end of the year. Yet, it is the good and faithful stewardship of our entire faith community that keeps us faithful to our local ministry, but also faithful to our Annual Conference. As your Pastor, I am grateful for your responsibility and dedication to do the job of ministry in so many ways. Emily Meckley Page 2

July lessons for U.M.W. tells how God calls deaconesses and home missioners to serve in full time, vocational ministries of love and service as they explore ways to support these servants of Christ. 1 Samuel 16:7 KIV - For the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart. “We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all those that supported Drew and our entire family during his long battle with cancer and at his passing. We are unable to thank all those who offered prayers and sent cards directly and cannot express how much your generosity, kind words and caring thoughts mean to our family.” Thanks again!!! And keep in touch. Love ya, Ross & Jill Wurdeman
Dear Loan & Scholarship Committee, Thank you so much for the scholarship. I am excited to begin my freshman year at K-State. I plan a dual major in microbiology and political science. The support of the church family truly means a lot; it’s nice to know I have a church I can always come home to. God bless you all, Lexia Aurand Dear generous donors & FUMC family, Thank you for supporting me through the years, and helping to raise me into the woman I have become. Also, I thank you for the kind thoughts, words, and scholarship to chase my dreams academically. I will always remember my religious family, especially as I face challenges on my own. Sincerely, Kristen Swiercinsky The Church Family, Thank you so much for thinking of me on graduation. I gratefully appreciate all the love and support you have given me over the years.
