In what concrete ways are you living your faith
through service to others?
In today’s Gospel, Jesus challenges his followers to
proclaim the Gospel now and not to let other
responsibilities deter them. In what ways do you delay becoming a
better Catholic Christian, thinking you have time tomorrow to
change your life? How are you a witness of your faith to others and
how do you proclaim the kingdom through words and deeds?

Praying for Vocations
Praying for vocations with the Paulist
Mission Cross. Our joint UCC and St. Austin
vocations committee invites families or
individuals to sign up to receive a Paulist
Mission Cross that will be given out each
week at the end of our 10:30 am Mass. The
volunteers will take the Mission Cross home
with them along with a book of vocation
prayers with which they will pray during the
week. They will then bring the Cross and prayer booklet back the
following week and another family or individual will be invited to
take it for prayer. Don’t miss this opportunity to have a Paulist
Mission Cross for a week in your home. Sign up today at the UCC
front desk or by emailing

“Happy Are We: The Teachings of Jesus”.
With the end of the fiscal year upon us this weekend, we want to
update you on the progress of the Increased Giving Campaign as
well as on the outlook for the end of FY2013.

In the month of June, $22,487 in special gifts was raised in re-
sponse to the Increased Giving Campaign. There are still challenges
that remain in terms of ongoing monthly support, but we are over
the biggest hurdle.

Thank you for your support that has brought us this far, but we still
need to raise more monthly support to ensure the financial health of
our ministry going forward. Please talk to Elizabeth
( or Fr. Ed (
about making your commitment to the UCC today!

Peter’s pence collection today!
This week our diocese is taking up the Peter’s Pence Collection,
which provides the Holy Father with the funds he needs to carry
out his most important charitable works. The proceeds benefit the
most disadvantaged: victims of war, oppression, and disasters. Your
gift makes you a pilgrim of charity around the globe. Please place
your donations in the basket at the UCC front desk.

Giving Campaign. The best way to support the
ongoing ministry of the Center is by joining the

“The great apostles, St. Peter and St. Paul,
did not stop in Jerusalem, but turned their
eyes and steps toward all-conquering, all-
powerful Rome. Their faith and their
heroism, sealed with their martyrdom, after
a long and bloody contest, obtained the
victory. The imperial Roman eagles became
proud to carry aloft the victorious cross of
Christ!” (The Church and the Age, 1887).
