Independence Day—The 4th of July
For American families, the 4th of July is a tradition that involves food, friends, and fireworks. Unfortunately, as with many holidays, it's easy to lose sight of why we're celebrating. America's independence is significant to so many people worldwide because our liberty is the defining characteristic of our country and its citizens. Many other countries came together because of a common language, religion, or ethnicity. That's how the countries in South and Central America, for example, came to be. The United States of America, by contrast, was born because its founders believed in a series of principles and ideas. Having escaped religious persecution in Europe, the first non-native Americans were firm defenders of a number of things including: liberty, freedom, and opportunity. These concepts are the bedrock of our country's rich history, and have guided us in the 237 years since we declared our independence from Britain. Ultimately, the genius of our country lies in its people. Previous immigrant waves began with the first pilgrims from England. Today’s immigrants must have an understanding and appreciation for all that binds us together. Immigrants have an obligation to honor and love our country. Like those who came before us, it is vital to know our country's history, customs, and language. Only then can we ensure that future generations of Americans can be as blessed as we are to live in such a great country.

DO YOU KNOW WITH BIBLE CERTAINTY THAT HEAVEN WILL BE YOUR ETERNAL HOME?
Our Dilemma: We are, by nature, sinners who stand guilty and condemned before our Creator and Judge. In our thoughts and actions, we have disobeyed His perfect standards. We are sinners. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” – Romans 3:23 Our Inability: We are helpless to save ourselves. Forgiveness is a gift to be received, not a reward that can be earned. We need a Saviour. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” – Romans 6:23 Our Saviour: Because of His love for us, God provided salvation through His Son, Jesus. He became a member of the human family, lived sinlessly, and died on the cross to pay for our sins. Jesus is the Saviour! “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16 Our Response: Salvation is an individual matter and requires a personal response on the part of anyone that wants to be saved. All who acknowledge their sin and place their trust in Christ are adopted as God’s children. Whisper a sincere prayer and invite Christ to save you. “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” – Romans 10:13

Our church operates effectively because our membership volunteers tirelessly for the Lord when needs arise. Our church needs someone to volunteer to “flush out” the gutters at the church and parsonage. We also need capable people to “power wash” and apply concrete sealer to our concrete entrances. It would also be helpful if someone would “power wash” the vinyl siding at the church and parsonage.
