Follow standard books, stress on understanding things than memorizing them. Solve objective type (especially numericals) questions as much as possible. No need to cover the entire syllabus. Keep preparing your personal notes as you cover topics. Do not practice questions in rough. You may need to see the solutions at the time of revision. Go through previous year papers (say last 10 years) to check your knowledge and note the distribution of different topics. Revision is one of the most important step of the preparation process (around 20 days before examination). Follow your notes during this time and solve time-bound question papers (preferrably last year papers). Take a chill-pill on the day before exam. Relax!!!!!!!!!! Do not make any guesses in the paper. If possible, try to eliminate the choices by minimum calculation/analysis. Even you find the paper tough, DO NOT panic. It'll be hard for all Junta... Rohit Kumar Gupta : AIR 39, EE, GATE 2008

I will like to share some general myths about M. IITs are going to the next step.Tech students. Generally people prefer to go into PSUs after BTech. In fact even some of the courses done by btechs and mtechs are same and for some of the courses you will attend with the btech guys. When IITs were formed. MTech ke baad PSU me jaana is not a good idea kyunki wahan kaafi general type ka kaam rehta hai.Techs at IITs are as good as B. Some people have the complex that BTechs of IIT are better than MTechs since they have been brought up in a conducive environment from the beginning. its good for mtechs too. 3. You stand a better chance in terms of promotion too. During last 10-15 years IITs have shift there focus from producing mere engineers to masters in their field. There is so much stigma around us against M.

Same logic applies to your choice of project. Here’s how: Courses in IITs can be divided into roughly two categories: 1) Courses that are really very good but at the same time extremely tough. These courses will make you work so hard that GATE studies will look like a piece of cake. There is no separate placement for mtechs and btechs. most people take the useless easy courses. the only thing you can do is teaching.
