Just like the book of Revelation, the book of Proverbs touches on all sixty-six books of

the bible. As we go verse by verse in the book of Proverbs we not only find wisdom, but
divine promises from God to His people. Proverbs chapter two tells us about God’s
divine protection for those that walk uprightly, and teaches us the importance of
discretion and good judgment.

As we go through life, we will encounter hateful and evil men who will try to provoke
and deceive us into leavening the paths of the righteous, to walk in the ways of darkness,
and will even persecute those that boldly stand on the word of God.
II Timothy Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
3:12
II Timothy But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being
3:13 deceived.
II Timothy But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of,
3:14 knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
II Timothy And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make
3:15 thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

Throughout scripture, we see religious systems being portrayed as women in the bible. In
Proverbs Chapter two we encounter the “strange” woman who is a representative of the
false religious system that turns people away from God and promotes spiritual
fornication. But as evil men and seducers wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being
deceived, The Holy Spirit anticipates every single heresy that may arise concerning
scripture, so that the saints of God are thoroughly furnished by the sword of the Spirit,
which is the word of God, to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in
Christ Jesus.
II Timothy All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for
3:16 reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
II Timothy That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
3:17

As we go verse by verse in Proverbs chapter two, we will also cover Jesus’ letter to the
church in Thyatira in Revelation 2:18-29.

Proverbs 2:1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my

commandments with thee;
Proverbs 2:2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply
thine heart to understanding;
Proverbs 2:3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy
voice for understanding;
Proverbs 2:4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for
hid treasures;
Proverbs 2:5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and
find the knowledge of God.
Your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of
God:
I Corinthians And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech
2:1 or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
I Corinthians For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and
2:2 him crucified.
I Corinthians And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.
2:3
I Corinthians And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's
2:4 wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
I Corinthians That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of
2:5 God.
For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to
say:
Luke And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers,
12:11 take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say:
Luke For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.
12:12

We do not presently get brought into the synagogues, but we do suffer

for righteousness' sake:
I Peter But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of
3:14 their terror, neither be troubled;
I Peter But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer
3:15 to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness
and fear:
I Peter Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers,
3:16 they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
Proverbs 2:6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh
knowledge and understanding.
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men
liberally:
James If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally,
1:5 and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
James But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of
1:6 the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
James For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
1:7
James A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
1:8

Ephesians Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
6:10
Ephesians Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles
6:11 of the devil.
Ephesians For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against
6:12 powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual
wickedness in high places.
Ephesians Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to
6:13 withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

6:19 boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
Ephesians For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I
6:20 ought to speak.

Proverbs 2:8 He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the

way of his saints.
The Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me
unto his heavenly kingdom:
II Timothy And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me
4:18 unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;

keep thee:
The Holy Spirit will guide you in all truth and glorify Jesus:
John Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for
16:13 he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and
he will show you things to come.
John He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you.
16:14
John All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine,
16:15 and shall show it unto you.
Proverbs 2:12 To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the
man that speaketh froward things;
Froward things: 8419
hkpht Tahpukah (tah-poo-kaw'); Noun Feminine, Strong #: 8419

1. perversity, perverse thing

The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to
reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
II Peter The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the
2:9 unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
Proverbs 2:13 Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the
ways of darkness;
If you leave the path of uprightness, demonic influence will increase:
Matthew When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places,
12:43 seeking rest, and findeth none.
Matthew Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when
12:44 he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.
Matthew Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than
12:45 himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is
worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.
It will be worse for these men once they leave the paths of
uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness:
II Peter For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge
2:20 of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and
overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
II Peter For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than,
2:21 after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto
them.
Earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the
saints and not let the demonic influences of ungodly men, turn the
grace of our God into lasciviousness, and deny the only Lord God, and
our Lord Jesus Christ:
Jude For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this
1:4 condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and
denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
Jude I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the
1:5 Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them
that believed not.
Proverbs 2:14 Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness
of the wicked;
These filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak
evil of dignities:
Jude Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving
1:7 themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an
example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
Jude Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak
1:8 evil of dignities.
Proverbs 2:15 Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their
paths:
clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose
fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots:
Jude Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the
1:11 error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.
Jude These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding
1:12 themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds;
trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;
Proverbs 2:16 To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from
the stranger which flattereth with her words;
Proverbs 2:17 Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth
the covenant of her God.
In Jesus’ message to the church of Thyatira, Jesus actually gave Jezebel
space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. She forsook
the guide of her youth and forgot the covenant of her God:
Revelation And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son
2:18 of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine
brass;
Revelation I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and
2:19 thy works; and the last to be more than the first.
Revelation Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that
2:20 woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my
servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
Revelation And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.
2:21
Proverbs 2:18 For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto
the dead.
Proverbs 2:19 None that go unto her return again, neither take they
hold of the paths of life.
Jesus’ message to the church of Thyatira: “Behold, I will cast her into a
bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation,
except they repent of their deeds;”
Revelation Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into
2:22 great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.
Revelation And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I
2:23 am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of
you according to your works.

Proverbs 2:20 That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and
keep the paths of the righteous.
Jesus’ message to the church of Thyatira: Hold fast till I come and keep
the paths of the righteous;
Revelation But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this
2:24 doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will
put upon you none other burden.
Revelation But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.
2:25
Proverbs 2:21 For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect
shall remain in it.
Jesus’ message is not just to the church of Thyatira, It is to all the
churches. All seven letters in the book of Revelation, in chapters two
and three, were delivered to all seven churches. That’s why Jesus tells
everyone, “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto
the churches”. Proverbs 2:21 and Revelation 2:26 lets us know that he
that overcomes, and keeps the works of Jesus unto the end, to him
Jesus will give power over the nations:
Revelation And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I
2:26 give power over the nations:
Revelation And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they
2:27 be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
Revelation And I will give him the morning star.
2:28
Revelation He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
2:29
Proverbs 2:22 But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the
transgressors shall be rooted out of it.

The wicked will suffer the second death and be cast off in the lake of
fire:
Revelation But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and
21:8 whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part
in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
In Revelation 21:8, the word sorcerer comes from the Greek word
“pharmakeia” pronounced; far-mak-i'-ah. That is where we get our
English word “pharmacy” from. Pharmakeia not only means witchcraft,
but also holds these other definitions:
1. the use or the administering of drugs
2. poisoning
3. sorcery, magical arts, often found in connection with idolatry and
fostered by it
4. The deceptions and seductions of idolatry
Besides witchcraft, Saint John saw people who were unwilling to repent
from their drug use. Drug addicts are transgressors and need to seek
help if they can not stop on their own. If Satan is holding you captive
with drugs, ask Jesus to deliver you, and seek help:
II Timothy In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure
2:25 will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
II Timothy And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are
2:26 taken captive by him at his will.

Seek your help from people of God:

II For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
Corinthians
10:3
II (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to
Corinthians the pulling down of strong holds;)
10:4
II Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against
Corinthians the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the
10:5 obedience of Christ;
II And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your
Corinthians obedience is fulfilled.
10:6

Jude To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power,
1:25 both now and for ever. Amen.
