Infosys Campus Connect Generic Course Project Specifications 1.

Design a model for University Data Base Application(UDBA): A university has many departments. Each department has multiple instructors; one among them is the HOD. An instructor belongs to only one department. Each department offers multiple courses, each of which is taught by a single instructor. A student may enroll for many courses offered by different departments. 2. Design a model for University Library System (ULS): There are multiple libraries & each library has multiple student members. Students can become a member to multiple libraries by paying appropriate membership fee. Each library has its own set of books. Within the library these books are identified by a unique no. Students can borrow multiple books from subscribed library. Students can order books using inter-library loan. This can be useful if a student wishes to borrow books from a library, in which he/she is not a member. The student orders the books through a library in which he/she is a member as well. 3: Design a model for Company Business Policy (CBP): A Company has several business units. Each Business unit has multiple projects. Employees must be assigned to one business unit. One or more employees are assigned to a project, but an employee may be on vacation & not assigned to any projects. One of the assigned employees will be the project manager for that project. 4: Design a model for a Hospital Management System (HMS): In a hospital there are different departments. Patients are treated in these departments by the doctors assigned to patients. Each patient is treated by a single doctor, but in rare cases they will have two or three. Health care assistants will also attend to patients; every department has many health care assistants. Each patient is required to take a variety of drugs during different parts of the day such as morning, afternoon, and night. 5: Design a model for a Toy Manufacturing Organizational System (TMOS): A Toy manufacturing company manufactures different types of Toys. The Company has several manufacturing plants. Each plant manufactures different types of Toys. A customer can place the order for these Toys. Each order may contain one or more Toys. Each customer has multiple ship-to addresses. To promote the business, the company offers different schemes based on the order value. 6. Develop a Model for Interest Calculation System for Retail Bank (RBICS): Consider a retail bank which collects the money from customers and in return gives them an interest at pre determined rate. Our objective is to automate this process of interest calculation. The system developed should calculate interest daily for each account having balance more than zero at the correct interest rate. This interest calculated will be cumulatively stored in a table which will be updated every day. Remember that the balance on which interest is calculated daily will change because the customer may deposit or withdraw money. Every month the cumulative interest calculated will be credited to the customer. After this point of time the cumulative interest stored should be set to zero because the customer has benefited for the period specified. Before interest is credited to the customers account tax should be debited from the interest according to prevalent government laws. 7: Design a model for an Order Management System (OMS): An OMS accepts an Order. Order must contain order id & displays an order header & followed by details of line items. An order header contains the information about the order such as order number, order date, order address, order contact no., order amount etc. Line items contain the detail information on the items purchased. Users of the system have reported complaint that the system takes too much time to respond after the order id is entered. 8. Design a model for a College Hostel Management System (CHMS): In a College there exist different types of Hostels. Hostels are categorized in various forms, e.g. Boys, Girls, and Employees. Boarders have to enroll their names to the Hostel Warden. All the details viz. Boarder Id, Boarder Name, Hostel Name etc. of the Boarders is to be kept under a form. Hostel Manager keeps all the calculation parts for each and every Boarder. Each Boarder is required to on/off their meals during different parts of the day such as Morning, Noon and Night. 9. Design a model for an Employee Management System (EMS): An EMS is used to maintain the information about all the Employees in an Organization. Employees are categorized in various types such as Manager, Office Staff, Accounts Staff etc. All the details viz. Employee Id, Employee Name, Office Location, Date of Joining etc. of the Employees is to be kept under a form. System

(2) Administrator keeps all the records for each and every Employee. Each Employee is required to sign in and sign out as par the rule of the Organization. 10. Design a Model for Railway Reservation System (RRS) RRS is used to reserve Railway Tickets. The System gives the details about the accommodation availability for the trains on a specific date from one place to another. Reservation can be done at any Ticket Counter or in Internet. Reservation may be of different types like one-way, round trip or cancellation. Passengers have to submit the Train Name, Train No, Source, Boarding and Destination Station Names, Date of Journey, Class Type etc. For any transaction passengers have to specify their name, age, sex, berth preference, food option etc. 11. Design a model for a Hotel Management System (HOMS): Hotel Management System keeps the records for each Boarder. Hotels may be categorized in various forms, e.g. 5 Star, 3 Star, only Lodging etc. Boarders have to enroll their names to the Hotel Manager. All the details viz. Boarder Id, Boarder Name, Boarder Address, Room No etc. of the Boarders is to be kept under a form. Hotel Manager keeps all the records for each and every Boarder. Each Boarder is required submit their Photo Identity Proof for further reference. 12. Develop a Model for Online Leave Management System (OLMS) This Model is aimed to develop an Online Leave Management System that is of importance to either an organization or a college. The Leave Management System (OLMS) is an Intranet based application that can be accessed throughout the organization or a specified group/Dept. This system can be used to automate the workflow of leave applications and their approvals. The periodic crediting of leave is also automated. There are features like email notifications, cancellation of leave, automatic approval of leave, report generators etc in this system. 13. Develop a Model for Online Help Desk (OHD): An Online Help Desk (OHD) is maintained to provide the facilities in any campus. This is an Intranet based application that can be accessed throughout the campus. This system can be used to automate the workflow of service requests for the various facilities in the campus. This is one integrated system that covers different kinds of facilities like class-rooms, labs, hostels, mess, canteen, gymnasium, computer center, faculty club etc. Registered users (students, faculty, lab-assistants and others) will be able to log in a request for service for any of the supported facilities. These requests will be sent to the concerned people, who are also valid users of the system, to get them resolved. There are features like email notifications/reminders, addition of a new facility to the system, report generators etc in this system. 14. Develop a Model for Online on Request Courses Coordination System (ORCCS): An online on-request courses coordination system is very important in an IT organization which has a training department of its own. The online on-request courses coordination system (ORCCS) is an Intranet based application that can be accessed throughout the organization or a specified group/Dept. This system can be used to automate the workflow of the requests that come from various departments for project specific trainings and their approvals. The training department has to cater to the training of the fresh recruits. It has a regular calendar and schedule to train the Freshers. In addition to this it has to handle the project specific training requests coming from various departments. For this the department has appointed one person as the on-request coordinator, who will be able to service the requests with help of ORS. The whole process starting from logging the request by a dept to servicing the request is automated. There are features like logging the request, to check the existing training calendar and checking the availability of respective faculties for the course, allocating the faculty for the course, if an internal faculty is not free during that period getting faculties from outside, report generators etc in this system. 15. Develop a Model for an Online Sales and Inventory Management System (OSIMS): An online Sales and Inventory Management System (OSIMS) plays an important role in a departmental store. This system can be used to store the details of the inventory, update the inventory based on the sale details, produce receipts for sales, generate sales and inventory reports periodically etc. This is one integrated system that contains both the user component (used by salespersons, sales managers inventory managers etc) and the admin component (used by the administrators for performing admin level functions such as adding new items to the inventory, changing the price of an item etc). This system runs on multiple terminals, offers a GUI interface to its users and connects to a common database(s).

Develop a Model for Employee Transfer Application (EPA): EPA for ABC Technologies Ltd. maintains the information related to its employees transfer and generating the transfer related documents. This application would be facilitating the system administrator (Higher Management) to search the employees transfer record, make new transfers and also amend the allowances offered to the employee who usually depends on the post of the employee and the type of transfer he is getting. Develop an Intranet Employee Transfer Application, which will cover the following functionalities: 1. Login: a) Employees, b) System Administrator. 2. Interface for filling up the following information: a) Searching the transfer records. b) Updating the transfer records. c) Making new transfers.(this can be combined with the update page by enabling and disabling the update and make transfer buttons.). 3. Interface to generate the transfer related documents in Doc format. 4. Automatic mail notifications to the Employees who got transferred and to the managers who would be receiving the transferred employees. 5. Logout. 17. Develop a Model for Online Intranet Knowledge Management System for a college (OIKMS). Development of an online intranet knowledge management system is of important to either an organization or a college. The system (KMS) is an Intranet based application that can be accessed throughout the organization or a specified group/Dept. This system can be used as a knowledge/information mgmt system for the college. Students/Staff logging should be able to upload any kind of technical information. Students/staffs logging in may also access/search any information put up by others. KMS should facilitate knowledge sharing from the grass root level like project teams to the entire college. 18. Develop a Model for the Training and Placement Cell of a College (OATPC): An Online Application for the Training and Placement Cell of a College basically keeps all the records for various Companies and their status. The system is an online application that can be accessed throughout the organization and outside as well with proper login provided. This system can be used as an application for the TPO of the college to manage the student information with regards to placement. Students logging should be able to upload their information in the form of a CV. Visitors/Company representatives logging in may also access/search any information put up by Students. 19. Develop a Model of a Split Screen Application for the data entry of the Shipments (SSAS): Online data entry system enable image assisted data entry for the shipment for the courier logistics. The scanned image if available will be displayed on the left side of the screen when the Airway Bill Number (AWB) is entered on the right side. This is a POC (Proof of Concept) assignment, which can be showcased to any organization where chunk of the work is paper-based. 20. Development of a Campaign Information System (CIS): An insurance company wants to start campaigns for its new products to be sold to the prospective customers. Campaign means advertising of the products through channels like Tele marketing, letters, signboards, TV Commercials, etc. There are different campaigns for different products and there is a specific period for each campaign. Before the campaign starts, estimates are made on sales to be achieved, budget allocation for each campaign and variance allowed (%) both for sales and budget. When the actual data is captured, the actual variance (%) is calculated. The difference between the actual and the estimated variance gives the insurance company an insight into their estimation and it helps in making strategic decisions about budgets and campaign periods. 21. Development of an e-Post Office System (EPOS): The e-Post Office is the shopping portal of the world renowned postal service on the internet and an additional distribution channel. It sells Stamps, PostCards, Packets, Cartons and has services like courier, registering for electricity vendors, selling mobile cards, etc. Under this website many products and services can be ordered, that are also available in a "normal" branch. The product prices are identical with the prices of their normal branches. The e-Post Office is expanded permanently through new products and services in order to offer a product portfolio corresponding to the market. Private customer and business customers can order the selected products of the postal service online quickly and comfortably. Besides this, the e-Services offer new flexibility through e-Packet, the PICKUP order for packages over the internet as well as the online forwarding order and storage order. For the case of the absence or the move, one can let delegate here the after shipment of the postal service at another address or store the letter shipments. The customers can register themselves and can be served individually. Target groups of customer of the e-PostOffice are predominantly little and middle-class business (SMEs). The customers can have a payment alternative through credit card. In order to use the load writing procedure, the customer registers itself in the e-PostOffice and receives a login for its purchases name.

Develop a Model for Lost Articles and Letters Reconciliation System (LALRS): A Post Office wants to improve its efficiency by delivering the lost letters and lost articles (which are sent in parcels) in a short period of time. Currently it takes about 3 months for a lost letter or a lost article to reach the correct destination. A machine reads addresses on letters. The ones, which could not be read by machine, are sorted by human intervention. Even after this, the address is not readable, it becomes a lost letter. Articles that fall out of the parcel become lost articles. When the sender/receiver calls up or contacts the post office for their letter/article, a manual note is made and then this note is sent to the warehouse where lost articles and lost letters are kept. The reconciliation process of finding the lost letter/article is manual and sometimes wrong letter/article(s) is sent. You have to develop a system, which captures the above functionality and reduce the turnaround time from 3 months to 10 working days. This is an Intranet application. 23. Develop a Model Student Project Allocation and Management System (SPAMS): A SPAM is a web-based system, which manages the activity of Student Project Management and Online Testing. This system will manage the database and maintain a list of all student groups that have registered on this site, conduct their online test and shortlist those students who have passed the eligibility criteria as set by the professors. 24. Develop a Model for Practical Online Testing System (POTS): An Online Testing System (OTS) is of important for an organization or a College. Online Testing System is an Intranet based application that can be accessed throughout the organization or a specified group/Department. This system can be used to conduct tests on various topics. The system should be able to generate graphical results for better analysis. 25. Develop a Model for practical Resource Management System (RMS): An online Resource Management System is important to the various Independent Business Units (IBU) of an organization. The Resource Management System (RMS) is an Intranet based application that can be accessed throughout the organization or a specified group/Dept. This system can be used to add or modify employee details and help the management while organization in allocating resources to various Projects. 26. Develop a Model for Online Tickets Reservation System for Cinema Halls (OCHTRS): An Online Ticket Reservation System for Cinema Halls provides the facility for the Spectators to book a Cinema Ticket from anywhere. The Ticket Reservation System is an Internet based application that can be accesses throughout the Net and can be accessed by anyone who has a net connection. This application will automate the reservation of tickets and Enquiries about availability of the tickets. This application includes email confirmation for the tickets. 27. Develop a Model for Time Table Generation System for a College (CTTGS): This Model is aimed to develop a Time Table Generator for Colleges. Colleges are supposed to make time tables for each semester which used to be a very tedious and pain staking job. Each teacher and Student is eligible for viewing his own timetable once they are finalized for a given semester but they cant edit them. 28. Develop a Model for Workflow based Purchase Request Approval System (PRAS): For purchase of any item, the user will create a purchase request in the system. An approval route for this purchase request will then get generated depending on the price of the request and the reporting and approving hierarchy of the organization. This purchase request will then be submitted by the user and it will flow to the next approver in the route. The various approvers in the route can be either in series or parallel or a combination of both. There should be some report generation facility also by which a user can generate different reports. Reminder mails should automatically go to users when a request is lying for his approval for a long time and also, to the user when his request is approved fully. 29. Develop a Model for Product Master Maintenance System (PMMS): An Online Product Master Maintenance system is generally used in a manufacturing industry. The Product Master Maintenance (PMMS) is a client server based application that can be accessed by a selected group of users. This system can be used for maintaining all the details related to a product like Product hierarchy, product/sub-components attributes (cost/size/weight etc.) and supplier details. There are additional features like user access control, report generators etc in this system. 30. Develop a Model for Web Based Meeting Scheduler (WBMS): The Model is aimed to develop a scheduler for group meetings. This is a web-based tool. Any user can call for a meeting and send the detailed co-ordinates of the meeting (location, date, time etc) to all invitees. This is useful for a small office, school or a department or for that matter any group who is interested to organize it effectively. Facility to book room and editing booked room are also available

(5) 31. Develop a Web based Stationery Management System (WSMS): The model is aimed to develop a tool for tracking the Stationery request for any Institution. Normally in any institution the request for the stationery is tracked via an e-mail or via excels sheets or registers and this leads to tremendous wastage of resources. For example: - there may be scenarios where the quantity kept in the Godown or store of the item may be more than needed and the supply of few items may be less than needed. This system will thus help in reducing the wastage at the same time look into generating reports to give a high level view to the higher management for the benefit of the organization. 32. Develop a Model for an Online Course Portal System for a Campus (OCPS): The model aims at creating a Courses portal for a campus/organization. This allows registered users of the system to join a course available in the site and access the materials published for the course. People can register themselves as students of a course or Faculty for a course. When a person registers himself as a Faculty, an approval mechanism should be triggered which sends an email to the Administrator for approving the person as a Faculty. There will be an admin approval page where admin can approve the faculty members for the course. The course home page should contain the title of the course and a brief description. There will be a discussion board for each course where students can interact, an announcement section, which contains the latest announcements, and a course content section which gives the links for the material available for the course. For faculty members there will be an extra link for uploading the course content in a zip file format. The course content should be html pages, which should be uploaded in the zip file format. There should be a mechanism for the faculty members to create a test for the course specifying the test title and a set of multiple-choice questions and duration of time of the test. 33. Develop a Model for an Online Auctioning System for an Organization (OAS): The Model aims at creating an Online Auctioning system which can be used to buy and sell articles. The users of the system can create an Item for sale providing the item name, description, an image of the item, minimum bid prize etc. The buyers can bid by providing a bid amount (which should be greater than the previous bid). The system will have an administration module to administer the categories of the Shop as well as to block fraudulent users. The administrator will set up the Categories of the items. A category is a logical subdivision of Category of similar products (eg: Furniture, Electronic Accessories, Books) Admin should be able to Create Categories, Merge Category etc. There will be a Search by which users can search for items up for sale. 34. Develop a Model to Design Speed Cash System [SCS] The Speed Cash System is used to transfer money from one place to another within a day. This is basically used to speed up the money transfer. The necessary information for the money transfer from the source bank to the destination bank is sent in the form of file on daily basis. This file contains the information like remitter details, beneficiary details and DD (Demand Draft) details, etc. Basically the remitter is a person who sends the money and the beneficiary is the person who receives the money. If the remitter has already an account with the bank, the deduction at the back end should happen instead of cash dealings. Once the file is received, it is processed and the data is put into the database. Then it is again processed and DD is printed. The printed DD will be handed over to the concerned person. Various reports are generated by this system. 35. Develop a Model for Recruitment Process System for HR group of a Company (HRRPS): The Model is aimed to develop a web-based and central Recruitment Process System for the HR Group for a company. Some features of this system will be creating vacancies, storing Applicants data, Interview process initiation, Scheduling Interviews, Storing Interview results for the applicant and finally Hiring of the applicant. Reports may be required to be generated for the use of HR group. 36. Develop a Model for Budget Approval System (BAS): The Model is aimed to develop a system by which the employees in the organization submit the bills to their managers. The bills could of various types and also of various amounts. The employee after submitting the bill will automatically provide the managers name to which the bill will be submitted. The bill will pass through a workflow process and the owner of the bill can view the status of the bill at any time. An email will be sent to the concerned people to let them know about the status of the bill. 37. Develop a Model for School Administration System (SAS): The Model is aimed to develop a school administration system which can streamline the administration of school. Its often felt that the school management is chaotic in nature. It involves many administrative work and co-ordination. This project is to develop and deploy a web based application so that the different aspects of a school administration become easy to handle.

(6) 38. Develop a System to Automate Payroll Processing in an Organization (APPS): Consider a medium sized IT establishment which manages its own payroll requirements. This project will aim to develop an automated system to pay employees their monthly wages. The system should store Employee salary details and leave allowance. At the end of the month the system should automatically credit the employees bank account with their salary. Income tax and loan payments should be deducted at source and appropriate accounts credited. Salary slips should also be generated. This system can be integrated with Leave and loan systems to give a holistic solution to the organization. 39. Develop a Model for Web based Reward Points Management System (RPMS): Company ABC has an internet based product called Infobar, which allows users to view useful links from different sites on topics of his/her interest. To encourage the usage of the Infobar, the company has a reward point scheme. 10 points are rewarded on usage of Inforbar for 1 hr. When a user accumulates over 100 points, he can redeem them for a gift of his choice. This project aims at building a Reward Points Management System for the customer support team of the company. Objectives are to build: A data store for user information, Web site supporting functionalities like - Search/sort/add/delete/view/modify etc on user information, Modules for bonus point allocation, Facility to add information on different gifts available and bonus points against them, Facility to detect fraud/duplicate users, Generate report on number of users using the Infobar in a month, their responses to various schemes etc., Communicate user via email to notify him about various incentives and bonus point schemes, get his feedback etc. 40. Develop a Model for Training Portal Application System (TPAS). Develop an Intranet Application for ABC Technologies Ltd. for automating the process of conducting Trainings. The Application has the following types of users: 1) System Administrator, 2) Instructor, 3) Employee/Student (Trainee), 4) Approver. The System Administrator can add a Course, add a schedule, modify a course, add a feedback and modify a feedback. The Instructor can generate attendance, update attendance, view feedback, view schedule, change schedule. This would be facilitating the employees to register for the training online, Unregister; add a feedback for a particular training, View list of all the trainings attended. The Approver can approve/disapprove a particular Training. 41. Develop a Model for Patient Billing System for a Hospital (PBS): This Model is aimed to develop a patient billing software system that is of importance to a hospital. The PBS is a local software system. This system can be used to maintain the location (bed no.) of each patient either in the ward or the ICU. Information about the patient and the charges to be paid is also stored. 42. Design a Model for Equity Trading Portfolio Management System (ETPMS): ETPMS is a System for traders who normally do the trading though some stock brokers. These traders mostly track the share prices using News channels or news papers and place the order for stock buy or sell to stock broker. Stock broker actually does the buy or sell action on behalf of such traders. ETP manager keeps the track of share prices offline (if time permits this can be made online) and provides charts and analysis of the particular companies share with available data. At End of Day, the broker will update the closing stock rates to database. Similarly at Days open the broker will update the opening stock rates (if time permits this can be made online). It also keeps the records of buy and sell done by the trader. This system facilitates the traders to see the DMAT allocations of trader with current price. Equity Trading Portfolio (ETP) manager is a true assistant to those traders who do not have electronic trading facility and do trading through brokers.
