Gaia and Uranus
Gods of Earth and Sky

Abstract
I decided on doing a god concept of Gaia and Uranus. I also like to be as close to the lore as possible (Gaia and Uranus are strongly tied to each other) and therefore I decided (especially with possibly upcoming stance switching Tyr) to make two gods in one god suggestion. Also accompanied with that I want to break even further the link between physical and magical damage types. Just like always I will restrain myself from using jumps/dashes and (hard)CC. I hope you like my suggestion and any feedback is really appreciated and may impact further changes to this concept. Also we need to have Gaia and Uranus in Smite, because Denton deserves his father and mother ;) (can you already imagine the win and lose screens with Denton? Gaia and Uranus are the personification of the Earth and the Sky respectively. Note: Everything in green applies to Gaia and everything in blue applies to Uranus. And everything between brackets I may or may not add or is an clarification of something. Disclaimer: Even though I try to create realistic kits and base my values on similar skills and gods the values are their mainly for demonstration purposes.

Lore
Uranus came every night to cover the earth and mate with Gaia, but he hated the children she bore him. Hesiod named their first six sons and six daughters the Titans, the three one-hundred-armed giants the Hekatonkheires, and the one-eyed giants the Cyclopes. Uranus imprisoned Gaia's youngest children in Tartarus, deep within Earth, where they caused pain to Gaia. She shaped a great flint-bladed sickle and asked her sons to castrate Uranus. Only Cronus, youngest and most ambitious of the Titans, was willing: he ambushed his father and castrated him, casting the severed testicles into the sea.. After his castration, the Sky came no more to cover the Earth at night, but held to its place, and "the original begetting came to an end" (Kerényi). Uranus was scarcely regarded as anthropomorphic, aside from the genitalia in the castration myth. He was simply the sky, which was conceived by the ancients as an overarching dome or roof of bronze, held in place (or turned on an axis) by the Titan Atlas. In formulaic expressions in the Homeric poems ouranos is sometimes an alternative to Olympus as the collective home of the gods; an obvious occurrence would be the moment in Iliad 1.495, when Thetis rises from the sea to plead with Zeus: "and early in the morning she rose up to greet Ouranos-and-Olympus and she found the son of Kronos ..."

Appearance
Gaia will be a beautiful half woman half tree like. Her color palette will mostly consist of green and brownish colors. (please no high heels even though it’s pretty common for female Smite gods) She will have some flowers on her to give her some more colors. Maybe also a bird or something on her shoulders (or in her hear). When she walks she leaves behind some patches of grass and flowers.

When she switches places with Uranus she will shrink down to a flower. In Uranus form she will follow him as a patch of green grass and flowers beneath him. When changing places again with Uranus, she will grow back out of the flower and takes his place. (I imagine her to be between the three left pictures of her, but a little bit more tree like) Uranus will be a male, which floats above the ground has a windy, light look and is muscular (also nipples and some facial hair is required in Smite). His color palette will consist of white, blue and golden colors (the two pictures in the lower corners are just perfect for him). He will float through the air when walking/running (No cloud or whatever under him!) and Gaia will follow him. When he switches places with Gaia he will float up in the air and will transform in a cloud (are just windy air). He will follow Gaia with that (it has to be not too obscuring for the vision therefore it should be on a good height or should be mainly transparent.) When switching places again he will transform back and takes his place again. Also during god selection they will just keep switching between each other, on the god cards both will be visible at the same time. And if they ult is used for switching between them AND the ult is only available from lvl 5, then you’ll always start as Gaia, because she is a little bit more useful in the early game (laning).

Role|Class
Pantheon: Greek (primordial beings) Role: Physical melee support / Magical ranged carry (may change, already changed magic and physical once between each other, but doesn’t matter because currently it’s just becoming type A or type B damage). That’s right I’m proposing to introducing not only stance switching, but even role switching. Gaia will be a magical support, which is very strong in supporting her lane mate. She has a little bit more passive and supportive play style. Uranus is a physical AD, which can dish out some serious damage when necessary, but will be more support than a real carry (a bit like Neith). He has a more aggressive play style.

Abilities
Passive: Forbidden love
Gaia and Uranus can’t be together and are held apart from each other. The passive consist of three parts. One to make the switching work, one to make the different roles work and the last part to give them their real passive. Part I I’m not quite sure yet how I want that their stance switch will work, but here are the possible options:

1. Using an ability slot for it (ult), but I don’t want this because I want them to be complete character with an awesome ult. 2. Standing still for XXX seconds will make the switch (can’t be used dynamically in a fight (might actually be better)) 3. Using a totally different button for it (probably won’t happen) 4. You’ll switch after every ult (this would be balanced, but not quite as fun. To make it useful the ult should be very low CD and pretty weak) 5. Making it location dependent. In jungle you’ll be Gaia and in lane and base you’ll be Uranus (this is nice and fits their character, but it isn’t quite as useful and how I want them to work) 6. Something else. I really need others opinions about this, which is the best solution or other ideas on how this can work. And I really would like to have a system so that you can even switch form level 1 and is more important than it’s with Hel. For now the 2 & 4 sounds to me as the best solution. Choosing 2 isn’t as fun, but is more balanced and easier and also gives them a real ult. Choosing 4 then their ult has to be pretty weak (or nonexistent) and makes it too similar to Hel (and Tyr). Part II To make the different roles work Uranus and Gaia’s magic and physical power are converted with each other. So physical power is converted by a factor 2x to magical power. And magical power is converted to physical power with a factor 0.5x. This is the normal power conversion between magical and physical. This passive makes sure both will be ‘equally’ strong and you don’t have to build only for one, but the passive and penetrations are not carried over (/converted). So basically they are a little bit weaker, but they theoretically can build every item and these characters are very strong, because of their diversity in a team. Their item stats are shared between both, but they may have different base values. In this case their current health and mana (if they differ) are transferred based on %’s. The ability levels will be shared between them (of course). Part III This is their real passive and is different based on their ‘form’. They need a better real passive. I know. This will come later. See this for now as an placeholder Gain +15% movement speed in the jungle Gain +15% movement speed in the lane and base.

Ability 1: Overgrowth ivy
Gaia summons an wall, which is made out of overgrown ivy at the target location. The wall act as a very small ward (like 10 ft radius) to see the melee attacker and to have a minimap icon for it. The wall is big enough to block the small jungle path’s. The wall will stay until it’s AA’ed 1/2/3/4/5 times. (with 1 AA per second it’s weaker than Ymir’s wall considering 1 AA per second is a minimum value and the enemy is alone)

Max amount of walls: 3 Cooldown: 20 seconds The purpose of this skill is to block some jungle paths to make it harder and increase the time it takes the jungler to gank your lane. It gives your lane some protection against ganks. If used correctly it also could help with zoning the enemies. Also it is a double edge blade, because you can’t destroy the walls yourself and you also can’t go through it, so use it carefully and strategically.

Ability 1: Eye of the storm
Uranus uses the air to sharpen his precision of aim and increasing his attack range by +5/10/15/20/25 ft for 3/3.5/4/4.5/5 seconds. Additionally his basic attack output is increase by 5/10/15/20/25% This can be quite good and is a steroid, which he needs as an carry. Also depending on the tower range this could be quite good and he could potentially be quite the pusher. I placed this on purpose at the same place as overgrowth ivy to make it more useful to level ability 1 and forces you to use which skill would be more useful. This skill also grants him some safety and closes the gap in an unique way.

Ability 2: Tree of life
Gaia summons the tree of life at the target location. All allies within a (~)20 ft radius are healed for ~15/20/25/30/35% of their maximum health (this way it’s easier to balance between Gaia and Uranus) over 6 seconds. Also allies gain 5/10/15/20/25 protections in the radius. CD: 18 seconds Mana: 15/20/25/30/35% of you maximum mana (Should be more, but this is the point in which you can’t make profit for yourself at least and it depends on the requirements of switching if this value should be higher (depends on switch CD))

Ability 2: Refreshing breeze
Uranus summons a refreshing breeze at the target location. All allies within a (same radius as Gaia) will regain ~15/20/25/30/35% of their mana over 6 seconds. (Also allies gain 5/10/15/20/25 protections) CD: 18 seconds Health: 15/20/25/30/35% You pay for this in health and will make you pretty vulnerable. Therefore the pay number on Uranus can’t be too high.

Ability 3: Flowerbed
Gaia let a flowerbed grow at the target location it does every 0.5 seconds for 3 seconds 15/25/35/45/55( +20% contribution). It also applies Spore to enemies which get a tick of this ability. The spores will grow out and nasty vines/ivy will slowly starting to strangle them slowing them down for 10/20/30/40/50% slow at max distance (it’s rare to get the complete slow). The slow will build up the more distance you run away. Spore can only be applied once.

Spore duration: 3 seconds (after that the slow will be immediately be gone) Max distance: 60 ft (for now, basically only fast or jumpers will get this maximum distance within time and get rooted) Root duration: 1 second Radius: 20 ft CD: 16/15/14/13/12 This ability basically provides two things: CC to support your carry, but CC is situational and isn’t applied directly. Also it gives enemies the choice between running and possibly getting rooted or trying to move less and risking the bet. And some pushing power to be able to dish out some damage and help farming. Also damage on a ability like this is required, because this way she will draw agro and can’t just CC enemies for free.

Ability 3: Gusty appearance
Uranus becomes one with the air and becomes slightly transparent gaining the ability to move through player placed structures and minions (this gives him extra synergy with Gaia if used strategically) gaining immunity to knock ups, backs and roots (anything ‘physically’). (I may add at a later time +15% movement speed increase) Duration: 1/2/3/4/5 seconds CD: 15 seconds I know pretty similar to Loki’s stealth, but this is even a little bit weaker, but Uranus really needs something like this. It gives him a little bit more survivalbility.

Ability 4: Embrace of the Earth and Sky
This skill will heavily depends on how the switching will work and if this will just be a toggle button or if it would be a great ult. Therefore I decided to just make this the ult form and depending on how switching works the values can be changed/removed. Also this skill is the same for Gaia as well as Uranus. Gaia and Uranus reach for each other in the air. They take each other’s hand a pull them together. They combine their powers. During this process (short delay ~1-2 seconds) grass, flowers and bushes will grow radially from Gaia’s position to the max ult radius. Uranus makes clouds and heavy sunshine and this also grows radially from his position. No, not those gloomy dark clouds as his grandson, but nice beautiful white clouds. Here I created possible alternatives (can’t decide yet) 1. Uranus blinds everyone in the radius for 0.5/1/1.5/2/2.5 seconds. Gaia slows everyone in the radius by 30%

2. Gaia restores 10/15/20/25/30% health to all allies and Uranus restores 10/15/20/25/30% mana to all allies (stronger version of their 2, because of the radius) The heal is over the duration of the ult 3. Or just switching positions between Gaia and Uranus in a faster version of this ult (qua animations with a much, much smaller radius) if their ‘stance’ switching works with this as toggle. They are rooted and CC immune for the ult duration. Radius is the same as other similar semi global ults. So take as comparison Zeus, Hades, Cupid, Poseidon, Odin, Ares, etc. It’s ~30-35 ft. Duration: 5 seconds CD: 90 seconds (Again this depends heavily on how switching works)

Conclusion
• • • • • • • • • • Passive and ult is work in progress 2 truly unique characters, which will have a very, very unique play style A true hybrid New CC type(s) No jump nor dash No stuns 2 gods in one Fits the lore Breaking the connection between physical and magical damage even further. Makes Denton happy
