Pomona Freeway (SR-60) 55-Hour Weekend Lane Closures

The Pomona Freeway (SR-60) is a major thoroughfare, serving commuters between Los Angeles and San Bernardino and Riverside counties. As a result of heavy use, the road has experienced extensive wear. SR-60 is being rehabilitated in both directions, between the San Gabriel River Freeway (I-605) and Orange Freeway (SR-57). Along with road pavement work, traffic loops installation and striping will take place within the projects boundaries. Once the work is completed in late 2014, the new surface will provide a smoother, safer drive for motorists, reduce time required for maintenance and minimize the need for further lane closures. A series of 55-hour weekend lane closures are scheduled beginning Friday, July 12, 2013 and continuing for three more non-consecutive weekends through August 26, 2013. Caltrans will close 2-3 freeway lanes between Nogales Street and Fullerton Road. Although NOT a full weekend freeway closure, motorists will experience delays and are strongly advised to use alternate routes. The weekend closures allow for continuous construction work with minimal impacts to traffic flow.
