After completion of the disconnector poles. They are available for rated voltages from 123 to 300 kV and for rated currents up to 2500 A. each disconnector pole can be equipped with one or two earthing switches. Dead Centre Interlocking for all Operating Mechanisms. Little Maintenance Owing to the selection of the material used and the encapsulation of the pedestals and rotary heads in connection with a permanent lubrication the units are practically maintenance-free. NO External Springs Contact fingers without external springs. ANSI specifications can be met on request.84 and most other national regulations. Part 2/9. an energy supply unit has to fulfil. Strong Rotary Pedestals Application Disconnectors serve for metallic isolation of systems and form. In this connection operating reliability as well as maintenancefree and economic operation are the most important points. Ice Breaking Capability Disconnectors for operation under severe ice conditions up to 20 mm ice thickness are available. The experience gained as a consequence of their world-wide application is reflected in the development of new products and improvements in the existing products. in open position. rated normal current1600 A and peak withstand current 100 kA 2 . Two-column rotary disconnectors can be employed in high-voltage switchgear installations of many types used today.0urproducts have proved their quality and reliability often under extreme climatic conditions.e. no appreciable change of the contact resistance over many years. Thus perfect functioning is guaranteed. Front Cover View of a disconnector type SG F 245 n100 + E100 with Earth Switch rated voltage 245 kV. i. earthquake. For many years Asea Brown Boveri disconnectors have satisfied all the requirements.

The optionally available earthing unit consists of a hinged-type earthing switch fixed at the base frame. The tubular contact arm is located. This version allows for freedom in arrangement since the high-tension terminal can be turned though 360 degrees. The high-tension connection area of the 1600 A version is provided with 4 bore holes and of the 2500 A version with 8 bore holes for connection to flat terminals according to DIN Standard 46 203 or N EMA or other standards. The deflection of the post insulator due to tensile forces can be easily compensated by readjusting the nuts and the stud bolts. It carries the enclosed rotary pedestals protected against atmospheric influences and running in maintenancefree assembled ball bearings. along the base frame. consisting of a catch hook and an interlocking bolt which. the earthing contact attached to the current path comes to rest between the contact fingers of the earthing switch. Stud bolts allow rapid and exact adjustment of the current path Fig. -~"- Fig. The maintenance-free rotary pedestal is equipped with assembled ball bearings and safely protected against atmospheric influences. For rated current 2500 A six silver -plated contact fingers are installed. All contact pieces are silver -plated. side. Disconnectors for a rated voltage of 170 kV and above are equipped with an interlocking device. adjustments are normally not necessary up to170 kV. The support insulators are mounted on the mounting plate or the stud bolts of the rotary pedestal and serve for supporting both current path halves for the contact finger and contact side with the rotary heads and high-tension terminals. (For disconnectors of 245 kV and above with corona protection fitting). in the case of high short-circuit currents. prevents the two halves from separating in longitudinal direction. With the disconnector in closed position the contact piece is located between the contact fingers. in open position. 1 Base frame with rotary pedestal (sectional view). The current path consists of a welded aluminium structure with a minimum of terminal points and therefore n o appreciable change of the contact resistance over many years occurs.Design A sectional-steel base frame is the carrying constructional element of the disconnector. The universal design permits the earthing switch to be attached at site as required to suit the local conditions. the installation of a pipe connection or the straining of a connection cable is possible in any direction. Thus. Current transfer in the maintenance-free rotary heads. As the disconnectors are designed for high static terminal load s. Thus. The energy is transmitted from the operating mechanism of Me disconnector to a rotary pedestal. The design of the operating mechanism of the disconnector and earthing switch is such that a dead centre position is passed through shortly before the end positions are reached. The diagonal rod connects both rotary pedestals of each pole so that simultaneous operation is ensured. connection area 200x100 mm.g. The mechanical control of the pilot switches by means of the operating mechanism is designed in a way that the control signal is given only after the operating mechanism has reached the dead centre position and interlocking of the disconnectoror earthing switch has occurred. If motor operated mechanisms are used. With units installed o n a higher plane. Pilot Switches The pilot switches are attached directly to the operating mechanism concerned. current path halves. makes an actuation of the operating mechanism impossible. in disconnected condition. A blocking magnet can be installed as additional interlocking facility in the case of the manual operating mechanism. a mechanical interlock can also be provided for the earthing switch. Various types of locks can also be used. Inspections are mainly restricted to components exposed to atmospheric influences. installation of the coupling rods between the poles. which. mounting of the operating mechanism within reach is possible. Easy Installation The disconnectors are delivered in assemblies: lower part with rotary pedestals and diagonal rod. support insulators and operating mechanism. Since all mechanical adjustments have already been carried out in the factory. electrical interlocking of both operating mechanisms can be provided.Operating Mechanisms All disconnectors can be supplied with manual operating mechanism or motor-operated mechanism. Each three-pole disconnector or earthing switch group only requires one operating mechanism. Little Maintenance Owing to the selection of the material used and the encapsulation of the pedestals and rotary heads in connection with a permanent lubrication the units are practically maintenance-free. connection of the high-tension leads as well as the electrical connection leading to the operating mechanisms is required at site. Under normal climatic conditions the inspection intervals are 5 years. The operating mechanism is fastened laterally at the base frame. the operating mechanism of the disconnector is interlocked electrically. Interlocks Disconnector and earthing switch can be interlocked with each other at the client's request so that during manual operation it is only possible to operate the earthing switch with the disconnector in the open position and the disconnector with the earthing switch in the open position. The coupling rods between the individual poles can be continuously adapted. whereas. as requested by the client. by using an additional pivot bearing and an operating shaft. The provision of stud bolts is of essential help since their nuts serve for compensating rapidly and exactly the inaccurate position of the support insulators caused by tensile forces. For disconnectors with motor-operated mechanism and earthing switches with manual operating mechanism.
