Today’s Gospel parables tell us that God is always
there ready to help us as any loving father would
care for his child, and that every day God continually watches over
us with love and protection. In what ways do you have faith in
God’s loving presence? How do you persevere in prayer, trusting
that God answers in ways that are best for us?

Praying for Vocations
Praying for vocations with the Paulist
Mission Cross. Our joint UCC and St. Austin
vocations committee invites families or
individuals to sign up to receive a Paulist
Mission Cross that will be given out each
week at the end of our 10:30 am Mass. The
volunteers will take the Mission Cross home
with them along with a book of vocation
prayers with which they will pray during the
week. They will then bring the Cross and prayer booklet back the
following week and another family or individual will be invited to
take it for prayer. Don’t miss this opportunity to have a Paulist
Mission Cross for a week in your home. Sign up today at the UCC
front desk or by emailing MatthewA@utcatholic.org

Prayer of recollection • July 31, 7:00pm
Come join us in the UCC Library at 7:00 pm this Wednesday, July
31st for a lively presentation and discussion on The Prayer of
Recollection, written by St. Teresa of Avila. Our hosts will be a
group of lay sisters from the Secular Order of Discalced
Carmelites. The OCDS is a lay offshoot of the well-known
religious order founded by St. Teresa of Avila and St. John of the
Cross. Some food and snacks will be provided, and you are
welcome to bring your own! Please contact Brent Bennett at
brent.bennett@utexas.edu for more information.
Next Sunday’s Black Bag Collection
will benefit the Micah 6 Coalition.
The Micah 6 Coalition is a network
of faith communities within the
University of Texas area that answer
the call of Micah 6:8 in the Bible to
do justice through education,
dialogue, and advocacy, to love kindness by compassionately serving
those who come for assistance, and to walk humbly with God by
providing opportunities for spiritual growth to the people served,
the congregations, and other community partners. Volunteers are
always needed. For more information, visit micah6austin.org.

It's been a busy summer at the UCC and as we
quickly approach the beginning of a new academic
year, things don't look like they will be slowing
down anytime soon! Thank you to everyone who
responded to our Increased Giving Appeal. Our
monthly income increased by just over $1,800
which will help us to better budget and plan for
the ministry in this upcoming year. We would
still like to see monthly giving increase by at least $2,500 per
month. This will enable us to look at expanding our ministry,
providing more opportunities to grow in faith and enjoy fellowship.
Contact Fr. Ed or myself if you are able to help our community and
ministry through your financial support.

In the coming weeks, we will be sharing a full report of the
Increased Giving Appeal and also ways you can continue to help us
build up a solid financial foundation for the UCC.

Thank you, and God bless,
