Our Firm
Since it was established in 1988, Soebagjo Jatim Djarot (SJD) has been one of
Indonesia’s premier commercial law firms. SJD has grown to prominence having
acted for many major businesses and investors in Indonesia.
SJD is a full service corporate law firm providing expertise in all areas of business
and commercial practice. SJD’s partners are prominent in Indonesian business and
academic circles, and are active in various Indonesian and Asia Pacific business and
legal associations. Each of the partners has spent time either working or studying
offshore and is attuned to the requirements of both local and international business
party.
SJD has enjoyed an association with Blake Dawson (BD), a leading Australian law
firm, since SJD’s establishment in 1988. BD is one of Australia’s largest, full service,
national law firms, which has provided excellence in legal services for more than 150
years. It has over 180 partners and more than 1200 staff.
In 2006, MWSA Law Offices, a successful commercial Jakarta law firm, was merged
into SJD. As a result, SJD now has 40 lawyers, including 8 partners and 4 foreign
legal consultants. This provides SJD with a great depth of resources to support the
growth of its practice in Indonesia and in the Asian region generally.

Felix has established Soebagjo, Jatim, Djarot (formerly known as

Soebagjo, Roosdiono, Jatim & Djarot) in 1988. Felix has advised major
domestic and international clients among others, in general commercial
law, investment, manufacturing industry, property law, finance and capital
market. Felix is active in various legal associations. Felix is a Chairman of
the Capital Market Lawyers Association (HKHPM), and a Secretary
General of the Indonesian Capital Market Arbitration Board (BAPMI).
Felix is also a member of the Indonesian Legal Consultants Association (AKHI), member and
former President of the Inter Pacific Bar Association (IPBA). Felix is also active in Indonesian
academic circle, he is a lecturer at the University of Indonesia and the Gajah Mada University.
Fatmah Jatim

Fatmah started practicing law in 1975 and established SJD in 1988. Fatmah
has advised major domestic and international clients among others, in
general commercial law, investment, manufacturing industry, finance and
capital market. Fatmah is a member of the HKHPM and arbiter of the
BAPMI. Fatmah is also a member of the AKHI and the IPBA. Fatmah has
been a lecturer at the University of Indonesia since 1979.

the IBA. Dewi is also member of the Board of Directors of the Indonesian
French Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IFCCI). Dewi had been a
lecturer in the faculty of Law of the University of Indonesia from 1980 to

is on secondment to SJD. James has worked abroad for many
years, including as an in-house counsel for a major international
mining company. James practices extensively in mining, oil&gas,
and electricity and has been involved in significant transactions in
Indonesia, Australia, the United Kingdom and South America.

Philip has been a partner of Blake Dawson Waldron since 1991,

and since 2000 he is on secondment to SJD. Philip areas of
experience also include advising on various projects and on
financing transactions in Indonesia involving both foreign and
Indonesian banks, and advising in respect of foreign investment

major domestic and international clients. His areas of expertises include
among others investment projects, acquisition, energy resources, mining,

Emir Firdaus
